  1. I figured it out. You can assign your snapshots to any of the six foot switches but there are still only four snapshots. I was hoping for six. This unit has high quality effects though and it controls midi. Works for me.
  2. Hey guys, I was hoping we would get an upgrade in snapshots for the HX Effects since 2.9. Doesn’t look like it. Is there anyway to assign the lower foot switches to have at least three snapshots? not to sound like a complainer but I have never really liked the snapshots layout on this unit. Seems like a waist of buttons to me. I only play at home, mostly sitting down and would prefer the foot switches to be on the bottom. I read the 2.9 release notes but don’t quite understand when it says “any of the foot switches can be assigned to snapshots”. Can someone help me out and let me know if we can change the order of them. This is what it says but I think I’m miss interpreting it. Here is the link also. Thanks. https://line6.com/software/index.html?hardware=All&name=HX Edit&os=All&submit_form=set Command Center > HX Snapshot Helix Floor, Helix Rack / Control, Helix LT, HX Effects A new Command Center command type lets you assign any snapshot (or Snapshot Up or Snapshot Down) to any stomp switch. Together with HX Preset and HX Looper commands, you can now customize Stomp footswitch mode to your liking. From the Command Center, select a stomp switch and turn Knob 1 (Command) to select "HX Snapshot." Turn Knob 2 (Behavior) to set the behavior of the stomp switch: Press / Release — Pressing the switch engages the Knob 3 (Press) function; releasing the switch engages the Knob 4 (Release) function. Press / Hold — Briefly pressing the switch engages the Knob 3 (Press) function; pressing and holding the switch for 1 second engages the Knob 4 (Hold) function IMPORTANT! Although stomp mode switches can be assigned to multiple functions, to avoid unintended behavior, we strongly recommend HX Snapshot commands be assigned to empty footswitches.
  3. Updated my HX Effects to 2.91. First I launched the Line 6 updater. It states to upgrade to 2.9 then 2.91. seems to be working now.
  4. That really sucks. Maybe I’ll try to update to 2.9 then 2.91.
  5. 2.91 just got released. Haven’t tried it yet. Will in a bit when I have time. Hopefully it will fix our issues.
  6. For me this issue only happens with 2.9. I can restore my Global settings and other parameters with earlier versions. 2.9 will restore everything but my Global setting. I am using the HX Effects with my midi amp, so I don’t want to have to manually tweak all the settings again.
  7. Same issue I’m having. I had to go back to 2.82
  8. Thanks. I would have given up on this if it wasn’t for you. So appreciated. You solved the issue on an amp configuration that you don’t even own. That’s impressive. Thanks again.
  9. Hello rd2rk, so I have followed your instructions and it does indeed work. Thank You. I have created 3 snapshots. I used the lightning bolts as instructed in “Command Center” assigned it to the correct pc# which corresponds to my saved amp state. It switches amp channels instantaneously. My issue now is that in order to get to my 3 snapshots I have to press the bank up and down together (which is not the issue. The issue is as soon as I press on snapshot 1 it goes back to the default screen that shows the presets, then I have to press the two banks again ever time to get to snapshots mode in order to get to either snapshot 2 or 3. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
  10. Thanks rd2rk, I will try my best to explain this as clearly as I can. I have other tube amps and a Katana but I purchased the GM40 because I was looking for a tube amp that has effects and midi. The issues I am having are as follows. The GM40 is not tight enough for my style music, so I added my modded 808 in front of it to tighten it up. This left the issue of not being able to use the midi foot switch the way I would have liked because, now in order to go from a high gain channel to a clean channel, I would have to step on the midi controller and the 808. To me this defeated the purpose. I wanted a midi controller that I was able to add a pedal or two, change channels and recall saved presets. So after doing some research I narrowed it down to a few choices. Boss MS-3 which has built in effects and three loops. Problem was that the loops are fixed so they can’t be moved and in the 4cm it sucked tone. That was out. The Boss ES-5 or ES-8 but those were overkill. I was speaking with some guys at my local music store are one of them suggested the HX Effects. He said it is just like the Helix minus the amp modeling. So I will try apply the instructions from your post and see if I can get it working the way I would like. My goal is to be able to use the HX Effects to control my amp via midi and if I like the built in 808 I will use that. I want to be able to stomp on a foot switch have the amp change to the appropriate channel but also have it recall my settings that I programmed in the amp. This is where my terminology is unclear. Thanks for your help. I hope that was clear enough and makes sense.
  11. I have been trying to figure out how I can use the HX Effects to create and save patches with snapshots. It is easy to create a patch between the GM40 and the HX Effects but there is latency. This is of course what snapshots was designed to fix. Problem is that I can’t get snapshots to integrate properly with the GM40. I watched a great video on YouTube. Someone figured out how to make snapshots work with the Tubemeister and the full fledged Helix. I tried to use this approach on the HX Effects, but I couldn’t get it to work. I eventually gave up. What I would like to accomplish is: use a boost from the HX Effects in front of the amp maybe some effects after and of course use the midi implementation to change channels and effects from within patches. If anyone has had success please let me know. Thanks
