Same here today. Re-updating doesn't help. Can't use the device.

Jeez. Updating for me was going OK but after that all presets were named NEW PRESET (ok, i know there are no factory presets by default in 2.8.0) but my old ones got such a same names NEW PRESET too. Then I made a preset back up and in a few mins got "DSP error - overloading DSP" and couldn't get rid of that anymore. Same issue was after I re-updated my Stomp but at this time I wasn't even able to load my backups and always had DSP overloading error. So i returned to 2.71 and "thank you" for such a "good" job Line6.

Mine does have a smell, I mean it generates the smell. Can't say what kind of smell but it could be just a smell of new details or paint. Hard to say. What about Yours? And I'd say MIDI inputs are too hot.
