Hi All, Can I insert a TRS cable into one of the return jacks to use as another input? What I'm trying to do is connect an iPad and use a GarageBand synth. I would also set "Return 1" as the input on Path 2 to accomplish this. Would this work, or are the returns meant for mono connections? Thanks.

I just wanted to confirm that the WIDI Master works with the Helix Floor. I'm successfully sending patch changes to it from an iPad using the Set List Maker app.

The WIDI is exactly what I was looking at. It draws its power from the MIDI Out port of whatever it is connected to. That’s why I was asking if the Helix floor had power at that port. The reply above yours said it couldn’t power anything, but I see in the pedalboard post you referenced that he has it plugged into a Helix Stomp. So I’d have to assume that the floor could support it as well. Thanks.

Does anyone know if the Helix floor will output power (+3Vdc or +5vDC) on the MIDI OUT port? I'm looking to use a Bluetooth MIDI interface that gets its power from the MIDI OUT of a device.

Thanks for all the replies. Unfortunately this forum NEVER sends me notifications on threads I follow. But, IIR, one of the benefits from the tutorial had to do with the initial transient of the note being more pronounced when the delays and reverbs were split to the parallel path. (hope I explained that correctly)

Hi All, At some point I saw a tips tutorial that suggested moving your reverbs and delays down to a parallel path. I can't remember the exact reasoning why it was suggested. I've tried it on a few of my patches and it seems to increase the volume quite a bit in some cases. Does anyone know why this would be suggested?

Thanks. So I’m guessing the level on the output block is pretty much the same concept as the mixer block on the HD? And I understand the practice of using the amp’s channel volume to try to balance out different patches. But it was a common problem on the HD to have developed a set of 5 or 6 patches and then add one more with something like the AC30. You could boost the channel volume all the way and still have it not comparable to the others. Sometimes it would require maxing out the mixer block at +12 and still needing a studio EQ or something to try to get more level.

Thanks. I don’t think the guitar A and B example is relevant. It’s really about how amp A compares to amp B with all other factors being equal. But I’m glad your experience shows the amps being well balanced. With respect to your statement about ‘changing the default level of each model’, is that the typical channel volume of an amp, or is there some new parameter in the amp block that accomplishes that?

Hi all, I'm a long time POD HD 500 user. I'm considering stepping into the modern era and upgrading to a Helix. One quip I've had with the HD500 since day one is the inconsistent levels of the samples of the Amps themselves. It's always made it so difficult to build a set of patches using different amps that were level balanced. It was also very frustrating to build a patch that was mostly good, but then deciding to change out the amp, then having to suddenly add +8db on the Mixer or add an EQ to the chain simply to boost the signal. So my question is - has this been addressed with Helix technology or is it still a challenge? Thanks, Chris

Was any type of alternative editor ever available for the HD500? I'm looking for something Mac based. My HD500 unit still serves me well and I have no need to upgrade to a Helix or anything else. But trying to work with the tiny editor screen on a large monitor is just painful. I really wish Line6 would have put minimal effort into updating the UI on the software, but I doubt that will ever happen at this point. Hoping there is something else workable out there.

Also, FWIW, the XLR outputs are not mono if you only use one whereas the 1/4" outputs are.

Gee, 15 years ago I could hook my POD kidney bean up to my computer and log into custom tone and it would download the patches right into edit memory as you clicked on each one.
