  1. Thanks for your insights, everyone. Pier, what make and model of power conditioner do you use?
  2. Hi, thanks for replying - yes, that’s the cable I’m using - a VDI - all plugged in correctly and secure. Knowing that, might there be any other reason for the dropout, do you think?
  3. Hi folks, My band played at a festival today. All was going well, until my JTV 59 Variax guitar suddenly lost sound right in the middle of one our set-piece instrumentals. Just dead. The lights were all on, but no sound was emitted. We had to bluff and blunder our way through to the end, as I stood there looking like a spare ***** at an orgy. As soon as we stopped, I switched the Helix off and on again. Bingo. Working again. I've spent months preparing for this gig trying to ensure nothing goes wrong. My Variax is connected to the Helix via one of those "ethernet" type cables (can't remember the name). And the Helix is connected to a Line 6 Powercab. All three elements - Variax, Helix and Powercab - are fully up-to-date with the latest firmware. Anyone else suffered the same fate? Any ideas what might have knocked it out of action? A stray arm touching the cable? I've been really excited about this new set up. Now I'm not sure I can trust it.
  4. Hi folks, I use two Variax guitars on stage - one is a back up, should a string break during a gig. I'd like both to be controllable via my Helix - so for this, I need to use Variax Digital Cables. Does anyone know if there's an AB Switcher Pedal, which I could plug both my Variax guitars into, then one output goes into the "Variax" input on the Helix? Being able to switch between the two would mean I can avoid kneeling on stage to plug/unplug them. There are some RJ45 switch/splitter selector boxes available online. However, none of them can accommodate the secure Neutrik casings of the Variax Digital Cables. I could purchase cables with Neutrik casings one end, and the standard ethernet connections the other. However, the standard ethernet connection wouldn't be very secure, and would cause problems if it jiggles around. Cheers!

  6. Hi! Do you know of a decent hard case that my Variax Acoustic 700 would fit into? I've scoured the internet but found nothing, apart from one suggestion that didn't look very robust. I need something that would withstand the rigours of touring. I measured the guitar's dimensions, and emailed Hiscox and Gator to check if they have anything suitable. Hiscox replied saying they don't have anything, but I haven't heard from Gator yet. Body length: 19 inches - 48.26cm Body height: 2 inches - 5.08cm Lower bout width: 14 inches - 35.56cm Middle bout width: 9 inches - 22.86cm Upper bout width: 10 inches - 25.4cm Overall length: 39 inches - 99.06cm Thanks for your help! Steve
