Great to hear. I'm rolling my new Helix out this coming Friday at a regular gig, and have tried to recreate the trusty patches in my X3Ls developed over the years to work with my Variax's. In doing so, I have found some great new things in Helix, and because it boils down to muscle memory -- calling up the right patches during songs, and turning the stomps on and off within them-- I wanted to program it similarly. I'm sure that the sound quality and expressiveness through the PA will be orders of magnitude better though... Glad to hear there's others like me who go direct to the console, and monitor off a quality powered speaker. In my case that's a Yamaha DBR10 700 watt speaker taking advantage of its monitor cut for wedge style floor placement. Most of my guitar friends can't seem to get past not having a loud amp behind them, punishing the room ;-)

Using it with a Yamaha DBR10 angled on its side (monitor style). That way I have my vocal monitor on one side of my mic stand and the DBR10 on the other. The DBR sounds amazing with the Helix, and with 700 watts of real juice, it's really just idling on stage with my 5 piece band.

First off, I have a couple of X3 Lives (back up), and 3 Variax's (2 500s and a JTV69). I'm seriously jazzed about Helix, and will be getting one very soon, but playing in cover bands with this same gear over many years always makes it challenging to move to a new platform. There's a fair amount of programming that went into my patches in the X3Ls, and it would be awesome to have some kind of a translation import function in the software that gets you somewhere 'in the ballpark'. Something like the correct Variax setting, amp (if equivalent), reverb, o-drive pedal etc. I get that the sounds will likely be dramatically different in most cases, but that's OK if there's at least a baseline patch to start from... Is this only a dream or is there some kind of patch import function from older gear such as the X3L?
