  1. I have a traditional tube amp and separate 2x12 cab. I have also have a Fender FR12 FRFR powered speaker. I would like to use my Stomp XL's effects with my amp, so I have it connected it with my other pedals into the front of my amp using its standard Audio In/Out jacks. I also want the ability to use the amp/cab modeling of the Stomp. Now, as I understand it, you're not supposed to run amp/cab blocks into the front of a real amp, correct? I did this accidentally once, and it made a horrible noise. That's why I want to connect to the FR12 as well. I want to keep the Stomp XL going with the other pedals into the front of the amp but be able to turn off my amp and run amp/cab presets to the FR12 without changing cables and switching global settings, etc. So, I've connected the "Send" jack on the Stomp to the FR12's input jack and changed the global line level setting for "Send" to "Line" level. In order for this to work I have to use a block at the end of a preset to direct the signal to the Send jack. Is that right? It seems to work, but I hate losing that precious block. Does anyone have a better way to do this? I don't want to run the FR12 and my real amp at the same time. I just don't want to go to the hassle of unplugging one cable, plugging in another, and changing output level for the Stomp's audio out to Line Level each time I switch. Any ideas and/or help would be appreciated. Thanks! PS: Sorry for the rambling post. I tried to get an AI to rewrite it more clearly, and the results were worse! Hope the above is intelligible.
  2. Nevermind! I found the following in the PDF manual I downloaded. I'm posting it here for future questioners.
  3. Hey all! I have a Mission Engineering SP1-L6H expression pedal w/built-in switch I used with an HX Stomp XL I had. Does anyone know if the HX One will respond to both the expression pedal and built-in switch like the Stomp? I have the 2-TS to 1-TRS cable. I'm thinking if it can respond to a 2-button expansion pedal, it could respond to one expression pedal and one switch. Hope that makes sense. Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks!
  4. I have a Stomp XL and the Mission Engineering SP1-L6H expression pedal (the one with the toe switch). I currently can assign two blocks to be controlled separately by the pedal, switching between them with the toe switch (Volume or Gain for example). I would like the Volume control to be Global and use the toe switch to switch the pedal to control a block in the preset (Gain for example). Currently I must add and assign one of the 8 blocks in each preset to Volume and then add and assign the second block. I want that block back! Is there a way to assign Volume globally, so it works on every preset without using a block? I would then use the toe switch to select the second block in the current preset to control with the pedal. I hope that makes sense. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks!
  5. Just to put a bow on things in case others have this issue... I had registered and signed in to Line 6. My problem was Helix Native was set to "Helix" hardware compatibility. I have a HX Stomp XL and bought Native with that discount, so no presets in "Helix" mode were available. I figured out how to turn off hardware compatibility or set it to Stomp XL mode, and all the nasty golden picks went away giving me access to the presets that came with Native. Thanks!
  6. Because Line 6 doesn't offer a standalone version, I'm trying to get Helix Native to run in stripped-down DAW-like apps like Hosting AU and Audacity on my MacBook Pro Max. HN loads with no problem, but all of the presets including "Empty" ones all have the guitar pick of death next to them. I am logged into my Line 6 account, but the only authorization-type offered in "Deauthorize my computer." HN runs fine on my various DAWs, and I have 5 activations left on my account, but I'd like a stand-alone type option or get as close to it as possible. Has anyone else been able to get such a setup to work? Thanks!
  7. I heard back from Line 6 Support. They confirm it is a bug, but there is a workaround. I'm posting it here in case someone else has the problem and ends up here via Google. It works for me if I send CC#56 with a value between 64 and 127. I could have sworn I tried 127. It must have been 128 because 127 works! So does 64 and 100... the only others I tested. They still need to clean up the contradicting info regarding CC#56 in the manual. Thanks for everyone's help!
  8. Page 66 of the XL manual lists the CC#. Here's a shot of the relevant chart.
  9. I've checked everything I can check. Either my MIDI controller is not sending on Channel 1 CC# 56, or the Stomp XL is ignoring it. CC# 55/FS7 works flawlessly regardless of which MIDI Switch or function is assigned to it. Has anyone else had success using FS8 with MIDI CC# 56 assigned to anything?
  10. Just a quick follow up... I switched Bank Up to FS8 and Bank Down to FS7. Now down works, but up does not. The problem is definitely related to FS8. Any suggestions? HTH
  11. I set up my Morningstar MC6 Pro midi controller to handle an HX Stomp XL Snapshot up/down and Bank up/down functions so I can have all 6 switches available for block control. The snapshots are working fine. They have their own CC command, so mapping it to the MC6 Pro was easy. Controlling the banks took a little more work, and I was only partially successful. The Banks don't have a dedicated CC command in the Stomp XL, but FS7 and FS8 do. So, I went into Global Settings and assigned FS7 to Bank Up and FS8 to Bank Down. I then assigned a switch on my MC6 Pro to send CC:55 (FS7's command code now mapped to bank up), and a second switch to CC:56 (FS8's CC no mapped to bank down). The midi switch assigned to FS7 (CC 55) works fine, but the CC 56 assigned to FS8 (CC56) does nothing. To troubleshoot, I moved the midi commands to different switches... the same problem, Up worked fine - Down did not work. I even kept the CC entries the same and just swapped the CC numbers. That resulted in the same problem. CC 55/FS7 scrolls up through the Stomp's banks with no problem regardless of which switch it's assigned to. CC 56/FS8 doesn't work regardless of which midi switch I use. CC55/FS7 works regardless of which switch it's assigned to. I copied and pasted the working setting changing just the CC number. That didn't work either. I changed the EXP/FS ring from FS8 to EXP 2 just in case it was causing the problem. No dice. At this point I'm certain that the problem lies with the Stomp and not the MC6 Pro. Perhaps the CC code for FS8 in the manual is wrong. Is there another setting affecting FS8 I need to turn off? Is this a bug? Why would FS7/Bank Up work fine, but FS8/Bank Down not? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
  12. The app MacUpdater has shown for the last several months that there are updates for Metallurgy Modern, Doom, and Thrash from 1.0.1 to 1.0.2. When I open any of the apps and check for updates it always says no updates are available. Is MacUpdater wrong, or are there 1.0.2 updates floating around the internet? Thanks!
  13. I've searched for this answer, but either my search-foo is weak, this question hasn't been asked, or the answers are so blindingly obvious no one has had to ask them before! So, here goes... What do the factory preset names tell me? I think the "FX" prefix tells me the preset contains only effects... no amp/cab. Is this correct? If so, then I assume the "DIR" prefix tells me there is an amp/cab setting, but what does "DIR" stand for? "4CM" probably stands for 4-cable management, correct? BAS is probably for Bass players, ACO is for acoustic, and KEY is for keyboards. How am I doing? I don't have a bass or keyboard, so I would be safe deleting those to free up space for new presets, either my own or those I buy/download, right? Letters at the end of the preset name are usually the initials (or other identifier) of people who created the preset, like JNC is John Cordy. Do I have that right? Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated, and thanks for your patience with a newbie!
  14. You are correct! After double checking that both the Stomp XL and HX Edit were up to date, I did a factory reset. I didn't bother reloading my backup because I hadn't created or uploaded anything important. After the reboot I created a preset with Poly Sustain and Tremolo. Worked right out of the gate with no sign of "operation" or "oper'n" ... may it rest in hell! I appreciate the help and advice. Thanks!
  15. Thanks for the help! I'll back up everything and reset to factory defaults. Just to prove I'm not hallucinating, I took the attached pics. One shows Poly Sustain's "Operation" switch assignment, and the other shows it listed at the bottom of the parameters settings. Poly Sustain works as long as "Operation" and "Poly Sustain" switches are pressed, so I don't think it's a DSP resource issue. I also ran into the same issue with the "12 String" preset. I wonder if it has something to do with the Pitch/Synth category as a whole? Anyway, I'll reset and report back. Thanks!
  16. I bought the HX Stomp XL a few months ago but have only recently had the time to start learning how to use it. I've run into one problem whose solution I haven't been able to find searching the internet and this forum. What does "oper'n" in a box/switch on the display mean? I tried to create a preset to use Poly Sustain and a tremolo effect, but the Poly Sustain wouldn't work. It was grayed out. I somehow managed to add a second Poly Sustain to the same preset. When back in Stomp mode the second Poly Sustain was replaced with "oper'n" and it was greyed out. I found that the first instance of Poly Sustain worked as long as "oper'n" was on. So, what is "oper'n" and how do I get rid of it? Thanks!
  17. I'm a newbie, so please be nice! After 15 years as an acoustic player, I'm slowly working my way into the electric world. I have one question about my new DK4 MkII. Is it possible to engage just the reverb without a delay? Can I hold the button down and dial in a reverb, let go of the button, turn the knob to Looper and keep the delay? I've experimented, but it doesn't seem to work. Is there a work around like setting a delay to zero or something? Thanks!
