Right play loud to get the sound in the room at 85-95 db, but it terms of a double check ( beyond just using ears) if the hx is outputting a measurable -12db into a DAW AND it sounds good into a guitar amp then is it safe to assume it will be good at the gig with a couple of small sound check tweaks.?
-
yes thanks - makes sense. So then for testing purposes I read that people level presets that are going ampless to about -12bd in a DAW - would it be the same if going into a guitar amp or a different value to aim for.

Still new to Hx Stomp XL and trying to see if it can replace my big board for fly dates. Late at night ( low volume into my Princeton Reverb) I made some patches that sounded good. They had some amp sims in the middle of the chain and I turned up the gain for my dirty snap shot. Now at higher volume practice during the day these sound a bit shrill, and I am thinking that perhaps it might just be best practice to not put any amps in the chain for patches thaat I will be plugging into a real amp? Is this what most people do, and then have a second version of that patch for amp-less gigs with an amp sim included. Curious....

Very cool - thanks for the info - I hope Pete Celi, Terry Burton, and the folks at Line 6 are all still pals. So many players ( including me go back forth between these products all the time) I am also a big Source Audio fan / user.

Sure of course I am using snapshots to change tones within a song, but between songs ( where I might be changing instruments) I certainly need to change presets without making the sound techs ( and audience) hate me. Should there be a way to do this. People are not using the same preset ( with different) snap shots for an entire gig?

I bought my hx stomp xl used from a retail store and I dont think it has the original PSU ( which I understand is not desirable anyway) The PSU i have is too short and too bulky at the outlet so I want to power it with my GODLYKE 2000ma PSU https://godlyke.com/collections/power-all-digital-power-supplies/products/copy-of-power-allĀ®-eco-dapterĀ®-deluxe-kit It comes with a green adapter cable that is 2.1 - 2.5 and says for Line -6 - but it does not work. What adapter should I get ? Please note this is only for situations where I will be using the HX STOMP on its own. For situations where it is part of a larger board I have the voodoo labs current doubler to power it from a Voodoo labs brick type product. Thanks

yes thanks for that but was hoping for the screw back in variety that fit rather than the self adhesive option...... Everything I found sofar on google looks too big like the Dunlop stuff. I thought someone here might know about the line 6 specifc parts and where to aquire them.

I want to set my very old Line 6 - EX 1 beside my very new hx stomp xl and use as an expression pedal. The rubber feet that screw into the ex-1 are long gone. The readily available dunlop wah rubber feet some with screws that are too big. Where / how can I replace the rubber feet for my ex 1 Thanks

Great answers - very helpful thanks for that

Hi am relatively new to Helix ( I have the HX Stomp XL) I am trying to get it setup and running well to replace a big board for fly dates. On my big board I am a heavy user of volume pedals for all kinds of reasons. So naturally I started building my presets with a volume pedal block in most of them. Then I realized this is a waste of a block b/c I can assign the expression pedal to control "level" in an eq, amp, compressor, reverb etc etc. So now I am curious to know if / why do people use the volume pedal block instead of just assigning expression to level in an other block. Know what I mean?
-
Ok - good to know I have not yet gone through the process of leveling out the gain of different presets. I will do that AND move looper away from last block. Hopefully that makes this thing useable on stage. ( I am new here so I only ever used 3.5)

Great tip I'll check out the video you are suggesting. So if I understand correctly you are saying that Timeline and HX stomp have a similarly powered chip but the TIMELINE ( any Strymon product I suppose) is devoting ALL of the processing power to what would be a single block on the HX, where the HX is sharing it across as many as 8 simultaneous algos? Of course that would explain why no single delay or reverb is quite as juicy as my strymon and source audio stuff. Makes sense this is shy I have a Fender Tonemaster amp - 4 processors dedicated to a single amp emulation......

Hi I am new to HX Stomp XL, I am hoping to get it to be a fly rig that will replace a large board of individual pedals for fly dates. I figured out snap shot mode and for some of the songs I play this will work out great. For other tunes stomp mode is better for me. I figured out the compromise which is to have 4 buttons set to stomp mode and have the up down bottons set to scroll through snap shots . BUT WHAT I REALLY WANT TO DO is to store that behavior by preset rather than globally. So for example if I am on preset 1, I am in in straight up stomp mode where 6 footswitches can be assigned to toggle effects on and off, but then in preset 2 I am in stomp / snap shot hybrid mode where the up/ down buttons are snapshot selectors and the other 4 middle bottons are assigned to toggle fx on and off. Is there a way to do this? Or is it only in a global setting?

Hi am relatively new to Helix ( I have the HX Stomp XL) I am trying to get it setup and running well to replace a big board for fly dates. I have gotten close but not quite there yet in terms of getting the HX to replicate the factory preset 12A VERBY in the strymon timeline, I have a couple of tweaked versions of this in my timeline that I use alot. Any tips on getting this out of a block or 2 in the HX ?

Hi am relatively new to Helix ( I have the HX Stomp XL) I am trying to get it setup and running well to replace a big board for fly dates. One problem I am having is that most ( not all of the time) when I change presets between songs when practicing ( I have not yet gigged with it) Is that it produces a loud thump/ chunk/ popping sound when changing presets - similar (but not quite as bad as) to pulling a cable in and out of a guitar with out muting first. What do I need to do to ensure that this "changing preset noise" does not get to the amp / mixer on a gig. Thanks

In the process of auditioning an HX stomp xl - considering it a s fly rig to replace tradition pedal board. On some of my patches I want stomp mode with 6 switches for bypassing fx - others presets I want snap shot mode and maybe still 4 switch stomp mode available. Is this possible to set stomp or snapsot mode on a per preset basis? or is this something I have to choose across the board in global settings?

helpful , many thanks!

HI I am new to the Helix world - I am trying to create a tiny fly rig that will replace a heavy pedal board in certain settings. I need to be able to have two expression pedals - one for volume swells and the other to control various other parameters on the fly with my feet. How do you connect two different expression pedals and get them too work ( or will this only work of they are the same?) I have an M-audio expression pedal I have an Line 6 ex1 I have an Ernie ball volume pedal jr If I connect any one of these to the expression jack and assign them to expression pedal 2 any one of them works. If I connect any two of these to the expression jack with a stereo TRS y cable - they either dont work anymore or one of them works but not as expected. I tried playing around in global settings with the inversion of the tip or sleeve. What am I missing?
