My new LT is on order and should be here next week which of course I'm very excited about. I've used Helix a lot in studios and with friends so know what I'm doing with it. I do a lot of work at home in the studio and so was intrigued to see how Native performed compared to what I know a floor unit can do.
The only problem with this is that the version which pops up in my DAW is prehistoric and you can't update it - the Line 6 instructions say to look for the gear icon - well it's not there. I assume this is because it's the trial version - but come on Line 6: Not many people are going to write, mix, master and print an album in 15 days. Why can't we trial the current version of Helix we would invest in? What if I need to know if your Kinky Boost and Compressor give me the tone that my real units have? What if the whole point of this is to make it easy for me to add that perfect Analogman overdrive to my DI tracks I recorded last week? Sure I can set up the LT to re-amp everything or USB it into my DAW when I get it - but the whole selling point of the Helix promotion is so we get both of them right? So why don't you let us try it first?
