  1. If the LEDs around the central knob are red then you are not in the mode that displays presets, you are in the mode that displays amp models. Press the ON and TAP footswitches at the same time to enter preset mode. The LED around the central knob should change colour. Now when you change preset you should see the lit LED always changes.
  2. Can you say what you mean by lowering your signal path? Are you talking about a volume change or something else? What colour is the LED for the ON footswitch? When this is white, that footswitch should be able to bypass all processing.
  3. If the POD Express Guitar had a truly clean channel it would be a complete solution for the tones I want, which would be incredibly convenient given how small it is. Listening to the demo of the POD Express Black, it sounds like it has a very clean amp model called "Pure". I would happily have traded away one of the other amp models in the POD Express Guitar (in my case the "Lead" amp model, but I'm sure others would fight for their own choice) to get an amp model as clean as that. The POD Express Guitar was my first Line 6 unit and I was very impressed. I've ended up buying a second hand X3 because it had a huge amp list including many bass amps and I know I can resell it for only a small loss if I don't get on with it. I love the Line 6 "Clean" amp model. It really warms up when the drive is increased while staying clean. Unsurprisingly given the age difference, I prefer the POD Express Guitar's amp models over the closest equivalents in the X3. I'll be interested to see which I end up using more.
  4. Thanks again for for your advice. My X3 arrived and I have successfully played a backing track through it via USB and played along.
  5. If the LED ring is showing red I assume that means you are in FX / edit mode. The red LED is meant to tell you which amp model you are using, not which preset you have loaded. I've just noticed that your post is a couple of months old and you've probably solved this issue, but posting anyway in case anyone else has a similar problem.
  6. Thank you! The manual mentioned 8 output channels via USB but didn't mention input channels. I am definitely going to try this. (I ordered the X3 today.)
  7. Hello. I'm thinking of buying a POD X3 bean on ebay. I play guitar and bass, only at home, almost always with headphones. I want to know whether it is possible to play a backing track through the POD X3 so that I can play along. Please would you tell me? If it is possible, I assume I would have to use either the XLR input or the USB connection as an input, but I'm guessing that might be outside of their design parameters.
