    Helix FAQ

+1 that would be super awesome to have. By the way, is there any way to delete ones Ideascale submission? I confused the vocoder with another effect xD yup, I'm really dumb. cheers.

    Helix FAQ

Hello, this sounds as though the release of a vocoder effect is already planned for the Helix in an update. Did I get that right or should I better put a vocoder up on Ideascale? Super super stoked for the release of Helix - cheers!

    MIDI Noob Question

Thanks a bunch cclement, that helps me out loads! Now all I need to know is how to simultaneously change patches on the pod via midi and I'm all set :D Cheers mate

    MIDI Noob Question

Hey there, So I sold the Engl and got myself a Torpedo CAB, which has a MIDI in. I'd really appreciate if you could illustrate how (or if) I could switch 8 patches on my POD via the PODs Midi and simultaneously change patches on the Torpedo CAB all with one switch on the POD. I would definitely need a MIDI thru, right? A midi to dual midi cable wouldn't do the job? Edit: Seems like no such cable exists. Thought I'd seen one somewhere.. I hope this makes sense. Thanks so much, cheers.

    MIDI Noob Question

Hello there, The amp is an ENGL Gig Master 15 E310, it has no MIDI functionality built in afaik, so I'd be surprised if it was possible without added gear, but I might be wrong. In its manual it says: If you want to control the amplifier via a MIDI system, use jacks 15 and a Looper or MIDI Switcher (e.g. ENGL Z-11). Use two stereo ¼" cords to connect the ENGL MIDI Switcher Z-11 (optional). You can then preset the two switching functions Clean/Lead and Mid Boost via the Switcher, store your custom switching setups as different MIDI programs and activate the presets via a MIDI board (e.g. ENGL Z-12). Cheers!
  8. Hey, thanks for your help! I did not realize that it has 2 stereo paths. I have so far been using the mixer to seperate the signals and then used a noise gate to make it mono again. I'm not quite sure if this approach is the one you are proposing, but it's working well enough. Next I'm going to try to use an insert cable to run from the POD's FX Send to the preamps. Like this I can see if panning before the fx loop results in getting differently strong signals in the resprective preamps. This would allow me to have a boosted-into-crunch clean channel and a lead channel with a lowered input signal, giving me more of a crunch sound, too :D So many options! Well I'm definitely having fun. Cheers!

    MIDI Noob Question

Thanks a bunch for your help, I'll try my luck! Cheers
  10. Hello everyone, I'm currently running my valve amp in the FX Loop of my HD500X. So I've got this AMT B2 Preamp Pedal lying around which has a pretty nice sounding analog fender amp simulation that I would love to use. Now it occurred to me that if I ran an insert cable out of the POD's FX Loop into the preamp pedal and valve amp individually, and back again, I could have both amps panned hard left and right. Would it be possible somehow to then make patches that use only one or the other signal? That would give me a pseudo-channel switching option which would be super awesome! I found a post by TheRealZap in this here old thread from April 2013 ( http://line6.com/support/topic/162-hd500-dual-amp-mode-with-fx-loop/ ) where he says “the fx loop is stereo, you have to use an insert cable to split it... but you CAN use it to route through 2 independent effects... provided you hard pan left and right... you can't turn them on independently though... it's all or nothing.“ That sounds like what I'm trying to do is impossible, right? Has anything changed in the software since then that would make it possible or am I missing something? It would be so frickin killer if I could use both signals individually! Cheers everybody! Edit: I tried it out and its working perfectly! I'm really really stoked about this, everybody who's got two amps hanging around should give this a try, best setup ever imo :D

    MIDI Noob Question

I thought I'd just start a new thread for a question I asked in another thread: So I'm using spaceatl's "MIDI OUT to MIDI IN approach" to achieve an ABCD EFGH patch setup on my POD HD500X, which he explained here: http://line6.com/support/topic/13214-fs1-8-assigned-for-patch-change/ This is working fine. Now I'm wondering if it would be possible to send MIDI commands not only from the POD to itself (to change patches), but to simultaneously send commands to a MIDI switcher so as to switch channels on my tube Amp. I know next to nothing about MIDI - is it even possible to send multiple commands through a single cable? If this is not the case, could anyone recommend any hardware that would help me achieve what I'm trying to do? I hope I managed to communicate what I'm trying to accomplish here. Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Cheers
  12. Connect MIDI in to MIDI out via MIDI Cable. Make sure you're running in FS 1-8 Mode Go into your HD500 Edit Program, in Controllers->MIDI ASSIGN map the footswitch numbers fs1-8 to the PROGRAM #. Leave the MIDI CHANNEL at 01 i.e.: FS2 --> PROGRAM # 002 hope this helps, worked for me certainly.
  13. Something just occured to me that I'd appreciate some help with - First off, I'm a total MIDI Noob, so bear with me if what I'm going to ask is completely ridiculous. Here goes: it would be really awesome if I could use the POD's Midi to switch the channels on my Engl Gig Master Amp in addition to switching the patches on the POD itself. Do you think this would be possible somehow if I got a Midi Y cable and went into a Midi switcher as well as going back into the POD? The Midi Switcher could then only receive the same commands as the POD, right? Any advice/suggestions maybe? This wouldn't be as complicated if I didn't already have to use the MIDI out to switch patches :/
  14. I'm now using spaceatl's midi out to midi in approach to achieve an abcd efgh patch setup. Thanks for that, seems to be working fine so far! I bought the HD500X without doing research if this kind of setup was possible (as to me it seemed an obvious thing to implement) and if I hadn't found this thread I would have sent it back, as it would have been useless for what I'm doing with it. I really think line6 should include this option in a software update in the near future, maybe we should open a request thread or something..
