  1. About 40 feet. That's what I got consistently, at 4 different gigs, in different venues and at home. I guess all of them were running wifi. lmao... Funny thing is, my g50 worked PERFECTLY in the same venue when I swapped them. It's running in RF1 mode and I have no issues at all. Where the g70 dropped out 40 feet away (with line of sight), the g50 went about 250 feet with no dropouts at all in a busy casino that I know for a FACT is running Wifi. As a matter of fact, the Wifi router was about 10 feet behind me. I returned the g70 and bought a new g50. It's beautiful and now accommodates fatter rechargeable batteries, as well as having a much more solid jack for the cable. Quit with the excuses, Line 6, and please just FIX THE PROBLEM.
  2. I went back to a g50 and couldn't be happier. I got so frustrated with that expensive box of bells and whistles that can't even perform it's main function. I have too many gigs to experiment with buying another transmitter (for $300) and seeing if it worked better than the one that came with it. When you're spending $600 on a piece of gear, the one that comes in the box should work just fine. I also found that my g50 was shipped in RF2 mode, which they're calling their new technology on the packaging. SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I switched it to RF1 mode, and NO dropouts at all. I've gone 250 feet from my receiver and had no dropouts at all.. even walking through a crowd of people, which I do every show. The fact that no one carries the g70 anymore means it's not selling. You would think in the last 2 years of problems that they would have fixed it.
  3. Actually, it can't. I tried it numerous times with horrible results. My new g50 in RF2 mode has the exact same issues. I put it back in RF1 mode, and ZERO dropouts. Why was the option to do that taken away with the g70? It seems to me that if I could, it would be the perfect wireless, and worth the $200 more than every other one out there.
  4. I had numerous issues with dropouts... even with the latest firmware updates and channel scanning at the gig. I returned the g70 and bought a new g50, shipped in RF2 mode. Had tons of dropouts. Switched it back to RF1 mode and NOT ONE. The "new" technology seems to me to be the issue, and the g70 offers no alternative to get back to RF1. It's a shame, cuz it's a beautiful unit otherwise.
  5. I think I figured out what's happening. I returned the g70 and bought a newer version of my trusted g50. It dropped out constantly, just like the g70. They come preset to RF2 mode, which doesn't make sense because there are warning stickers all over the packaging that RF2 mode doesn't play well with others. I switched it to RF1 mode and had ZERO problems. I'm pretty sure the g70 comes only with RF2 mode, or the equivalent (their NEW technology, as they put it in the g50 manual). Since there's no way to switch it to RF1 mode, there's no way to fix the problem. Again... why would you create a new technology that's faulty when you already have one that's extremely solid? The best part about buying a newer g50 is that they fixed the battery compartment, making it larger to accommodate rechargeable batteries. They also fixed the jack for the cable. Much tighter and more solid now. Thank you for that, Line 6!
  6. So disappointed. I've had a g50 for years now with no problems. Decided to upgrade to a g70... So many cool bells and whistles! Played it last week and it dropped out at 10 feet away. Updated all the firmware for both the receiver and transmitter, did a channel scan. Tried it at sound check today and i got about 40 feet from the stage when it started dropping. My singer has a Shure GLXD-16, and he got nearly 100 feet away before any drops. I hooked up my trusty g50 and walked 280 feet away to the otter end of the room, all around the room and into the casino. No drops AT ALL. My bass player has a g50 also and got the exact same range i did, with no drops. The g70 is going back. Believe the reviews... This thing sucks. The Shure killed it and my g50 killed both of them! Why couldn't Line 6 incorporate external antennas into this thing, or put the same bells and whistles into the g50 technology? If it ain't broke, quit trying to fix it... Just add more options!
  7. New firmware didn't work for me. I'm on 1.05 and still dropping out like crazy... at least at my last show. But I had the transmitter in my pocket and I was locked into a particular channel. I'm going to try it outside and use the channel scan this weekend. We'll see how it goes.
  8. I just bought one... updated both the receiver and transmitter to the latest firmware. I used it at the Whisky in Hollywood (small stage) with zero issues. Used it a few days later at a much larger stage and it cut out several times per song when I got about 10 feet away. In all fairness, I did have it in my back pocket. Maybe my jeans are lead-lined... lol. I ordered a new holster for it and I'll try it outside my pocket and see how it does. But coming from 6 years with a g50 with almost zero issues, and I go out deep into a crowd of people every show), I'm not convinced at all. Trying it again this weekend. If it drops out, it's going back and I'm going with the Shure GLXD-16. My singer has one and has no problems at all. I just love all of the extra features the g70 has and I'm not willing to give them up yet... at least not until my 30-day return limit gets closer.
