Can some one tell me what would be the best way to connect my amp a solid state 50w Marshall to my 500x and which output settings I need ,currently I am set to amp combo power amp output setting,output from left un balanced mono going into the effects return in the back to avoid the tone and channel controls. Also when its run in this way do I need to have the line level switch set for amp or line as I have tried both and amp is quieter than line but by using the line setting will I do my amp any damage.or would be better off going in the front. this may seem like a dumb thing to ask but I have asked it anyway. I just want to be able to get the best out of my pod. Many thanks Terry

Thanks guys all sounds positive except for the valves giving up I have never had a valve amp before and the extra cost of valves every 100 hours or so would be a sore point with the wife I'm sure.

Thanks for the response I have a bit of grovelling to the gear purchase officer (the wife) before I can buy one but its on the wish list for sure. As I am a new 500x owner and blown away by the sounds and I can only imagine how it would sound paired with the dt .

What would the output volume difference be between a marshall mg 50 dfx combo and dt 25 head and cab. would the dt keep up with the mg as I am considering buying the dt to go with my pod hd 500 x. Not that I run the mg flat out far from it but I would not want to be running a new amp full bore either. Any views on this are needed. I can't try before I buy my nearest dealer is 60 miles away I believe.

Thanks guys much clearer now. I am using the effects loop on my marshall mg50 combo so I might play around with the settings a little,I have only had my 500x for 2 weeks and still getting my head round it but have managed to make 30 ish different presets for playing in my covers band and used them on Thursday the only issue I had really was a balanced volume level across the entire set list. Some tones needed a bit more attention but overall I was quite pleased with myself and my new toy. Thanks again for the insights. Terry

Is it possible to have mixed input ie a vocal mic and guitar running with different effects for each input simultaneously and send them to different outputs ie vocals to pa and the guitar to the guitar amp as my pa has no effects other than reverb so I was going to feed my voice though the hd500x but can it be done the way I want to do it.

What is the pre amp mainly used for I've never used one.and what do the sag ,hum,bias etc do as far as shaping sound, the master is obvious but I've never had a pod before other than pod farm2 which I don't use in depth,never had a valve amp either so most of the dynamics of those amps are lost on me as I usually just plug in and play on a straight amp.

Why are the amps repeated in the amp list within edit software and why do some have different controllability functions. And what do the different controls do eg master sag hum bias etc and the duplicate amp has other attributes. Many thanks as I must come across as a dullard Terry

Thanks for your help I am a little disappointed that there's no cross pollination between these products. However I guess that I can open up the farm screen and copy the signal chain that way,as long winded as that might be it would be a shame not to use some sounds I really am familiar with. one more question does it matter which output I use when going out to my amp I have been using left mono I take it if the I/o is set to amp combo it will send any stereo chains to the single mono out put in use . I have bought my first multi effect pedal an hd500x I would like to know is it possible to get the set lists/patches created in pod farm 2 to work in 500x . If so how, I have read that hd500 files work by changing the file extension name would the same apply. And if not why not as many of the same rigs are in farm2. I have many favourite rigs I use for recording using kb37.and it seems ridiculous to me that these products I have paid for can't be used on a product from the same company using very similar software.
