brywool
I'm trying to figure out how to hook up an external looper to the PODHD500. Everything I see says "Oh yeah, it's just Guitar>looper>HD500." Unfortunately, that approach won't work with a Variax cable. there's no such input on the Jamman Looper. Is there a way to hook up an external looper to the HD500 while it's using it's Variax cable? The issue I'm having is that I use the Variax/HD500 for everything. I split the signal so my electric settings go to my amp and the acoustic sounds go to the PA. This has worked great for me. I'd like to incorporate a looper and the problem with HD500's looper is that it's mono and so I cannot split the signal like I'm doing for all my sounds. So during a song, if I want to play a solo over a loop, the loop will come out of my amp and out of the PA acoustic guitar channel. That won't work and will probably entice my soundman to kill me after the gig. Is there a way around this with an external loop pedal/JTV59/HD500? I've also got a support ticket in, but figured someone here might've encountered this along the way. thanks
greghall
It's best the put the looper in the effects loop, i.e JTV>HD500>Looper>HD500. That way you can position the looper at any point in your signal chain (using mono or dual paths). I use a Ditto looper in the effects loop and it works great. I generally have it positioned at the end of the chain, so I can change effects on different parts / overdubs. Just remember to add the effects loop for every patch you want to use with your Jamman. TheRealZap
sounds like you might need to put an ABY switch in the loop as well, so you can route your acoustic with the tap of a switch.

Regards I will give this a try this evening. After messing with the HD500 for looping, I'm getting pretty used to it at this point, but I still think it may not be ideal. For someone that uses, say, drum tracks, that'd be the way to go. I'm just wanting to play solos over the top of a loop that I record while playing the song. Do you mean an A/B switch? You can do that? Man, there are so many things buried in the HD500 that I've not even discovered. I will see what I can do with that. Wouldn't that mean another switch I'd have to hit while playing?
TheRealZap
Yeah, an AB switch the ABY part just adds the ability to choose both paths, which i guess the Y part doesn't apply here. it's basically so that you can still use the loop as an out for your acoustic... so yeah its an extra switch.
