mmedcalf
Hi, I have just purchased the dream rig - Tyler Variax, DT50 1x12 and POD HD500x. My question: I've seen conflicting views on whether the "cab sim" should be off or on when running through the HD500x to the DT50 (via the L6 link). On Sean Halley's Dream Rig Studio 1 youtube vid he has "no cab" in the cab model section - this makes sense to me as you are then using the cab on the DT50. However "Expert User" TheRealZap on the forums states "one common mistake when trying to get the hd preamps to sound the same is that they select no cab... the DT50 does use cab emulation... and the cab should be selected in the pod." What is the right approach? Cab sim on or off when using the Dream Rig/L6 link and HD500x? Does the DT50 use cab emulation or by enabling a cab, are you playing a cab into a cab! Thanks for your help, Mark
radatats
there is no right or wrong answer, The DT standalone models use cab sims so what Zap said is correct. However, you can choose any combination you want, its totally up to you and your ears. Line 6 intended the cab and mic to be part of the tone but you are free to play around with it. trust your ears...
