Tonyd927
Hey all, just recently purchased a 2014 Macbook Pro retina 13" with Yosemite 10.10 on it. I am using Guitar Rig 5 and Ableton for recording and using a Line 6 TonePort GX. Unfortunately, I cant get the darn thing to work. When I open GR5 there is an extremely loud "hissing" feedback, It seems like my mac's built in mic is recording the noises from the room and playing them back through the macs speakers. The toneport is plugged in, the light is green, and line 6 monkey says everything checks out ok. Drivers are up to date. Guitar is plugged in but doesnt do anything when I play. What gives? blocky
I am also unable to use my toneport GX on Yosemite since podfarm does not support yosemite. Does Line6 have a release date for yosemite support?
TheRealZap
POD Farm Installer Mac Version 2.58 Released 10/15/14 This update adds support for OS X Yosemite. I am also unable to use my toneport GX on Yosemite since podfarm does not support yosemite. Does Line6 have a release date for yosemite support? as you can see above it was released quite a while ago... either you don't have the latest version or you have another issue.... it runs on mine no problem. blocky
Podfarm V1 came with my device. Can I download Podfarm v2 for free?
TheRealZap
no not typically.... its NOT a free upgrade. if you buy a new one you get a free upgrade to 2.... if you bought it before 2 was out then it's not free. (except the trial version) there's not going to be any more updates to version 1 Podfarm V1 came with my device. Can I download Podfarm v2 for free? blocky
So the the hardware is now broken unless I pay more?
TheRealZap
no... not that i know of.... you didn't mention any hardware issues.... your software is out of date... and it's not being updated.... technically the newest supported operating system for pod farm 1 is 10.6 snow leopard. apple finally changed enough to break the fact that it worked anyway on 10.7, 10.8, and 10.9 if you want 10.10 support, then you will need to buy the upgrade to pod farm 2.x alternatively you can downgrade your apple operating system and continue to use version
blocky
Does that really make sense? Your answer is to downgrade the OS? I don't think I should have to pay more just to use the hardware I've already bought.
TheRealZap
you can still use the hardware all day long.... its the software that you have the issue with. sorry to be the one to deliver the bad news.... but that's the way that software works, you change your operating system and it may or may not work without the software being updated... and the original pod farm is not getting any more updates. Does that really make sense? Your answer is to downgrade the OS? I don't think I should have to pay more just to use the hardware I've already bought.
gxtpo
same thing has happened to me and i find the above experts response terrible. we can't use the hardware all day long! - the hardware needs the software to work!! and you're just making a semantic distinction between the two tolet yourself off the hook? TheRealZap
No.... experts are users first off.... as in well.... we aren't on the hook in any way shape or form.... i'm simply telling you the truth.... you have the option to upgrade... or not... and you CAN use the hardware without the software... you can plug your instrument in and record into your DAW. you can use any plugins that are available to you to do whatever you want to with that recording. it may not be what you want to hear... but it is what line6 has decided that they will support.... as terrible as it may be for you... i'm not making it up to hurt your feelings..... i'm giving you the info you need to move forward. same thing has happened to me and i find the above experts response terrible. we can't use the hardware all day long! - the hardware needs the software to work!! and you're just making a semantic distinction between the two tolet yourself off the hook?
