Pitch Glide won't respond to Expression Pedal - ???

Greetings all.  I've got a problem with my HD500x I can't figure out.

I'd like to use the Pitch Glide effect as a Whammy pedal.  When I select the Pitch Glide it does nothing.  I've gone through everything I can find to assign the expression pedal to control it, but I don't see it.  FYI: I don't have the software on my computer - I'm just working with the display on the unit.

I've googled, searched the forum, searched youtube, etc.

How do you make the expression pedal control the Pitch Glide?  Thanks very much for any help!

Also, why would Line 6 ship the unit with the Pitch Glide not setup already?  Wouldn't that be the best default?

I think if you select the pitch glide and double tap the move button you can assign the controller, then you can adjust the positions and parameters on the same screen.
