HammyWoodq
So I have a Hd500x and I use the 2 cable effects loop method with an 18 watt VHT Classic 18 tube amp. I get great tones. Here is what I am thinking about trying and I would like some feedback. What if I ran an external Marshall JMP1 Preamp to a Mesa 2:90 poweramp and use MIDI(and maybe 2 or 3 cable method?) Then set the HD500X to the 4 footswitch mode. Using the 4 footswitch mode and clone my 4 effects that I use into 1A,1B,1C,1D and then through the MIDI, set 1A as JMP1 clean, 1B as JMP1 dirty, 1C as JMP1 heavy and 1D as JMP1 heavy/boost. Basically can I run JMP1/Power Amp to an HD500X and be able to switch JMP1 presets with the HD500X without using something like a mini amp gizmo? Rewolf48
You can set each pedal to output a MIDI Program Change command (PC) and this will give you your JMP-1 Preset changes. Just be careful about Patch Changes on the HD500 as that will also send out PC MIDI messages and you can't turn it off - but you can set the MIDI channel that is used on the Global Settings and then tell the JMP-1 to listen on a different channel. SLIKA
HI I've just got a JMP-1 and I am using the HD500X as a controller for patch switching and that works great. I've tried the HD into the effects loop of the JMP-1 (Guitar out L&R to Loop return and Loop send to GUitar in on the HD). I get a chorusing occurring, I think its from line level input which I can't get rid of. I learned that you can go into the JMP-1 - then output into HD guitar in, then HD L&R output to my 9200 power amp. It sounds great but is there any dangers in using it this way (not sure if the tone is a little harsh as it has been using my HD unit and amp sims). Only downside I have is the wah sounds horrific so I'm going back to my cry baby, ALL THE ABOVE WITH NO AMP SIMS
bjnette
Try the Aux in instead or in the HD FX loop and either straight into power amp or back in as you are. The JMP is already a preamp.
Rewolf48
You should be able to go 4CM... Guitar -> HD500 -> HD500 FX Loop Out -> JMP-1 Guitar In -> JMP-1 FX Loop Out -> HD500 FX Loop In -> HD500 Stereo 1/4 Outs -> JMP-1 FX Loop Return -> JMP Main Out -> Power Amp -> Cab Technically that is7 if running in stereo, but that is how I would run it; then you can use the Wah, Distortions before the JMP-1 and the Delays and Reverbs after and still feed Cabs. glenn_szymanski
I also have a Marshall JMP-1 and am trying to figure out the best way to use my POD HD Pro X. I've tried putting the POD in the FX loop of the JMP-1 and don't like the sound, it seems to totally suck the tone out. I've tried putting the POD after the JMP-1 and before my power amp (Peavey Classic 120/120) and I didn't like the way that sounded either. I'm willing to try this 7 cable method, but it seems overly complex. lol. What about just going guitar into POD into JMP-1 and then into power amp? I haven't tried this yet. Rewolf48, do you have a JMP-1?
