Hum When Usb Is Disconnected

When going guitar - amp line out - podhd 400 - mixer

I get hum unless i connect the usb to my laptop. This is a problem because ii dont always have my laptop available. If i touch the end of the cable the hum reduces, but it is not eliminated unless i plug it in, so i suspect its related to grounding.

Amp alone = no hum

Pod alone = no hum

Amp + pod = hum

Amp + pod + pc via usb = no hum

Ive read a lot of posts about hum from connecting the usb, but my situation seems reversed..any thoughts? Anywhere else i can stick it to keep it quiet? :)

Unfortunately, I don't think it's a loop issue. I think the POD needs resetting. I had many USB issues that are similar to this and the solution was to reset the hardware by pressing left arrow as you power up,. then remember to calibrate the Pedal. I personally think it is due to the POD being an audio interface, every time you plug the USB the driver obviously has access to the POD volume and other things. After a while problems can arise and to catch that, it seems that the designers had the reset in place for such events!Let us know how it goes.

Reset it, but no effect. Thanks for the suggestion though.
