lespaulraider
I'm working on finding a few crunchy sounds I really like. At home, I run my Helix into a Mackie board, and then into a studio power amp with reference monitor speakers. That setup seems to get me very close when I take the Helix live into boards at church. While playing around with my templates, I found a sound/chain I really liked, but to my chagrin, the cab block was turned off at the time. There were no delays, reverbs, or EQ's on at the time, other than a basic HI/LO cut set for below 80 HZ and above 10 KHZ. I toggled the cab on and off and found it sounded much better without the cab on. How can that be? Has anyone else experienced that? I would appreciate any feedback you might have on that. Thanks. rd2rk
For YOUR EARS, that cab/mic combo doesn't work. Try a different mic distance. Try a different mic. Try a different cab. Or use it without a cab. It's all good. If it sounds good, use it! That's the only rule!
