JoeClynes
Hi, I picked up a Power Cab Plus about 2 weeks ago and just did some basic tweaks to a few patches, just enough to turn off the Cabs and/or IR's I was using in the Helix and begin to utilize the speaker sims in the PB. I was happy with the sound and when I had an opportunity last week to take advantage of a good deal on a second PC+ I pulled the trigger and now have 2. I was hoping to see of any other users are working with a similar setup and if so, are you using the L6 Link to make the most of this setup? If I'm understanding the signal flow correctly I can use 2 L6 link cables in place of XLR and/or 1/4" for audio. Please forgive my ignorance, but do the L6 link cables also provide data info between the Helix and PC+ so I won't need a MIDI cable(s) to have the Helix control which presets on the PC+ are used? I plan on finally hooking everything up this weekend and I'm all ears if anyone has some experience with this and can give me some advise on what to expect. Thanks, JC. specracer986
I have a Helix and one PC+. But I can tell you that at this time, if you want Helix to change speaker modes as you change presets or snapshots, then you need to do that through a midi cable. It's very simple to set up. I program it into pretty much all of my Helix patches now. It's a pretty sure bet that Line 6 will eventually make the midi changes travel through the L6 link cable. So that will eliminate one cable, but still require programming the midi into the patch. Maybe they'll surprise us and create a PC block for the Helix presets that will put all the settings in one place.
