pumpkinrex
Hi all, I recently bought a helix stomp, my issue is when I connect my IEMS to the headphone out the sound looses so much of the dynamic response and 'feel' the only way I can describe it as sludgy and dull. Strangely If I connect the same headphone jack to an 'aux in' or powered monitor then everything is resolved and it sounds perfect. I unfortunately bought it for use with IEMS due to neighbour issues etc.My IEMS arn't massively high impedance (Flare audio pro 2HDS) and I have tried tried all the various input impedances and cab sim options without result. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks in advance

That makes no sense. AUX IN is for connecting an audio SOURCE to an amplification device. Probably you're just confusing terms. How about - when you plug the headphones into the HEADPHONE jack of your computer or smartphone, how does it sound?
rd2rk
Sorry, I misunderstood your post. Try this. Connect your audio source - computer, smartphone, whatever you can stream audio from - to the L/R FX Returns of the Stomp. In GLOBAL SETTINGS>INS/OUTS set RETURN TYPE to AUX IN. Connect your IEMs to the Stomp Headphone jack and play along. How does it sound?
pumpkinrex
Wow this seems to have really worked! Thank you so much! what does this mean going forward, will something need to be plugged into the fx return all the time? Cheers again
rd2rk
The following is just a guess, based solely on a visit to the Flare web site. Your "IEMs" are NOT intended or designed for use with musical instruments. They are designed for full range music reproduction. When you hear your guitar in isolation it sounds dull in comparison to full range music. When your guitar is mixed with full range music it blends in and you don't notice it. I could be wrong, but it's the only reason I can think of. Having something plugged into the AUX IN does not in any way (that I know of) change the quality of the Stomp's guitar signal.
