ColbyObryan
So, I have connected my Helix to my EVH 5150 50W Head using the 4 cable method and I’m getting a great clean tone, however the knobs on the amp are practically useless, and the channels do not switch to their respective sound. It’s as if I’m just using the amp as power amp (that may be the point of this connection method). I want to use my helix like a pedalboard while using the drives on my amp. Is that possible? Someone please help. Thanks!
phil_m
When you say the knobs on the amp are "practically useless", do they have any effect, or just very little? Do you have an FX Loop block in your Helix patch?
ColbyObryan
I assume it’s how I have the blocks set up, because to get any dirt out of the drive channel, i have to crank the gain pot way up and it sounds like it is distorting the effects. Not the effects processing the drive. They do very little, in a nutshell and I’m not sure how to set my blocks.

This video does a good job at explaining it:
