HX Effects - Amp Channel Switching with EXT AMP outputs

I just bought HX Effects to replace stomp box pedals in my pedalboard. They were connected to G-Lab's GSC-3 that I used to select the pedals connected to its loops and also to control the channels of my EVH 5150III 100W head. I have a special cable made my G-Lab to control the channels. There are two outputs for amp channel control in GSC-3. The outputs are called SW1+SW2 and SW3+SW4. Clean channel is active when SW1 is chosen, Crunch channel when SW2 and Lead channel when both SW1 and SW2 are chosen.  SW3 is for the loop and SW4 is not used for anything. So I thought to try out that special cable for HX as well and it actually worked out - almost.

I created snapshots for one preset so that first is Clean (Ext Amp 1 Tip (= SW1)), second is Crunch (Ext Amp 1 Ring (=SW2)) and third is Lead (Ext Amp 1 Tip+Ring (=SW1+SW2)). If I go from Clean to Crunch and then to Lead all the channel changes are done without any issues. Also if I change from Lead to Clean or vice versa it works but if I change from Lead to Crunch it goes to Clean channel but all the effects chosen in HX for Crunch snapshot are active. From Lead I need to go via Clean to Crunch if I want the channel to be changed to Crunch as well. Would someone know what could be the reason for this? I'm currently using Latching mode for each channel change in HX. I also tried to change to Momentary but it didn't fix this issue.

I'm thinking about getting Voodoo Lab Control Switcher to enable MIDI for amp channel changes if it's not possible to change the channels without any issues using this special cable.

Are you using the channel switching with Instants, or setting up an EXT switch?

I’m using EXT switch. I don’t quite understand how the Instants should be setup. Or more specifically I don’t know how do I assign them for a certain snapshot.

Ok. No problem.

If you go to Command Centre,  you will see the 6 "lightning bolts". Click on one of the bolts and it should say "command none". Click on that and scroll down to Ext amp, and again click on it. In there it should give you the options of - Tip - Ring, etc. But should also give you the option of - None 1 - None 2, etc. That might be where your amp channels are at.

You can also set multiple, different Instants per snapshot. Or, as I use it, one Instant, but change it's setting per snapshot. Example  - using 1 Instant - Snapshot 1, set for Tip, hit save. Snapshot 2, (same instant) set for ring, hit save. You can then use just one instant in the same preset, but across snapshots it will change for you.

With your cable and amp, you may need to add more Instants per snapshot. But the "None" option doesn't exist on the Ext switch, but does in instants. So like I say, this maybe where your amp is at.

Thanks a lot for the guidance. I actually chose Tip 1, Ring 1 and R+T 1 under one Instant for each snapshot (=channel) and the channel switching works now without any issues. And as a bonus I got three free Footswitches to assign effects to.

Could the same thing be accomplished with the HX stomp since it has command center?

I have the PRS MT15, which changes channels with the included FS1M (single button footswitch), but would prefer to change channels with the HX stomp (more room on my pedalboard).
