moreteavicar
I seem to have an issue where all effects on my HX are in 4CM mode, but there is no FX block anywhere in the chain. This means if I want to use it without being part of a loop, I still have to loop patch cables in the send and return in order to get sound out. I then imported some presets I've made on the HX over to my Floor unit, and lo and behold, those particular presets are stuck in a 4CM mode, again requireing patch leads just for those presets. Again there are no FX blocks anywhere, I can't see anything in the menus (the manual is not particularly informative here). Anybody experienced this or know what's going on? Thanks in advance
rd2rk
I'm going to guess that when you say 1 hour ago, moreteavicar said: but there is no FX block anywhere in the chain What you mean is that there's no FX Send/Return Block. If the 1/4" out is going into the amp's FX Return, as it would be in 4cm wiring, it's bypassing the amp's preamp. If it's going into the amp's Input, then all the HX Effects are before the preamp. If I've misunderstood the problem maybe you could be a bit more specific about what's happening than "stuck in 4cm mode"?

Hey thanks for your reply - There was no visible FX send/Return Block, either in HX Edit on on screen 1/4" out going direct to line in on PA - not wanting to use 4CM at all. Problem was nothing was coming out of the HX unless I physically put patch leads to loop the FX send out to in on the Helix. When I first got my HX I assumed this was the standard operation, but when I got my Floor recently the same presets didn't behave this way. Its as if there was a hidden 4CM mode on the HX... moreteavicar
Curiously I seem to have fixed it without still knowing what happened. I did a reset on globals on the HX (Holding FS4+FS5), intentionally I wanted to go though resetting things systematically to see what had an effect. The presets were the same. After the next boot: 1) Non-4CM patches Line out worked normally without need for patch leads looping the HX send/return 2) FX loop blocks suddenly became visible in the presets I couldn't get to work on the Helix floor! I was then able to disable them and Line out worked withitout need for patch loops. I then transferred them with the disabled presets into the Helix Floor, and again, magically the FX blocks were visible but disabled, so it could work as expected. So whilst I "fixed" it with a globals reset, its a mystery how the FX block can be present but not display on screen or HX Edit, and how it can be enforced on all presets even ones which were never set up for 4CM. So if there are no hidden menu options to set this kind of behaviour (not sure why anyone would want it!), it seems like a bug. Currently on latest FW and SW, but first saw this problem on FW 2.
rd2rk
I've never seen this particular problem before. Are you located on a major conjunction of Ley Lines? :-) But seriously, I would open a support ticket. Just copy the two posts you made about it. Unless it can be duplicated, there's probably not much they can do, but at least there's a record of it.
