Shoegaze swell sound / Digitech Space Station i.e. Slowdive band

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum so nice to meet you all! I've been a gear head all my life on guitar, bass, drums and synth playing in over 20 bands pre-covid of course.

I've been using an effect from the 1980's collector( seen them actually sell for over $1k USD on ebay which is silly ) pedal called the Space Station for over 15 years now.

It has a preset that is a swell auto volume delay ( preset 5 and 6 ) that is so unique I've yet to find a replacement pedal.

Can someone PLEASE help me get that effect via a preset or customized effect on the Helix? Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Ah, yes the old DigiTech Space Station - IIRC, they also did a Reverb and Modulation version of that gizmo.

Well, as what you are describing is "so unique", it  would be a great help to have an audio clip to reference, otherwise we have nothing to go on.

Helix does have a "Vintage Swell" in the delay options, also an "Autoswell" in the dynamics section along with an "Auto- Volume Echo" in among the legacy FX. There are stacks of delays onboard if you wanted to stick a volume pedal in front for the obvious "do it yourself" version of swells.

Some users are not too impressed with the auto swell options on Helix and are hoping the something along the lines of the Boss Slow Gear will be added at some point.

If nothing else comes close to your Space Station get a couple of patch cords and stick it in an FX Loop of the Helix. Solved.

Hope this helps/ makes sense.
