How is your bank setup?

Hi,

I've just got my pod go and it is amazing. I've just started playing again after a break of 10 years. One thing is noodling at home with the unit, another is how one uses the unit in a live situation. I know there are infinitely many options but I was thinking that someone would be so kind to share a little gold here. I plan on using some FRFR speakers and was thinking something like

1) For a given bank, let A=clean, B=crunch, C=hard rythm, D=lead either with or without the same amps/cabs. But this again depends whether you are already running through an amp when you gig. For people running through some FRFR speakers it might be worth thinking about keeping the same amp model so the sound is not too distinctive if that makes sense.

1.5) As in 1) but using different amps/abs for each preset.

2) One could just store presets that will work for a given song and use the effects as necessary.

3) A combination of the above.

The 4 snapshots within any given bank share the same amp and effects. You can switch effects on / off and change amp and effects settings - but you cannot swap amps or effects within those 4 snapshots. For that you'll need another bank ...

Although you can't change the cab, in addition to changing cab settings, you can change the type of mic in different snapshots, which can make a huge difference to your tone. Another thing you can do, if you don't need the fx loop, is to remove the fx loop assignments that are by default allocated to Foot switch 2, and set it for a clean level boost of e.g. 3db, that you can kick in e.g. for a lead solo.

You can also have greater flexibility by adding 2 external momentary footswitches in FS7 and FS8. An advantage is that these can be activated in any mode, so you don't have to go into stomp or snapshot mode. And you can set them to do anything any of the other switches can do. Only thing to be aware of is that they don't show in the display, so you have to remember what they have been set to do. But you could use them for the same thing in any patch e.g. FS for a clean level boost, F8 to give an amp gain boost, or kick in a different delay setting, or any number/mixture of things.
