xixp111
I'm really having difficulty with figuring out exactly what I'm doing with this thing here's my situation , I have an HX effects not the full helix in case that matters. currently I have it hooked up into the fx loop of my Bias head I want to program a bank to have a switch that sends a PC signal to the amp head to change to one channel when pressed , and go to another channel when not pressed. and I can t seem to figure out how to do this. ive managed to program a lighting bolt of instant whatever you're supposed to call it , to automatically go to one channel when I enter a bank , and I programmed a foot switch to change the channel , but once I click the foot switch a second time , it doesn't revert to the original channel ... I'm new to this and all I can figure is I have to waste to switches instead of just having an on and off effect on one ... like I said I'm super new , I've had this peddle 2 hours now just trying to program this simple (or I would think it would be simple) thing. keep in mind if you answer I still don't really understand how the snapshots work ect ... write to me like you're explaining it to an idiot. thanks
rd2rk
As I understand the way the BIAS Head works, there's only one "Channel" in the traditional sense. What you're actually changing is the BIAS PRESET. IIRC, when using BIAS SW, you do this by assigning a Program Change Number (PC#) to the Preset. Again IIRC, the BIAS HEAD is configured using the BIAS AMP SW. Years after I decided that I hate Positive Grid, they still have one of the world's worst web sites. Designed to SELL, not SUPPORT. If You have a link to the BIAS HEAD Manual (I'm not sure it exists) or the BIAS AMP SW Manual (I had a link, but it no longer works), I might be able to help you more, but otherwise all I can do is tell you how MIDI and Command Center work with PC#s. For starters, you're mis-using the term BANK. What you mean is PRESET. When you load a Preset or change Snapshots within a Preset, the Instant Commands (lightning bolts) are sent to the external device (BIAS HEAD). When you load a Preset in HXFX, you can have each Snapshot set to send a different PC#, thus changing the Preset on the BIAS HEAD. HXFX has, what, 6 Snapshots per Preset? You can also set the Footswitches to send SPECIFIC PC#s or, if the BIAS HEAD allows it, whatever CC# (Control Change) it needs for Preset Previous/Next. There's no way, in Command Center, to have a single FS send more than one PC#. Questions? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's four examples of why I hate Positive Grid. I have BIAS AMP PRO, BIAS AMP 2 LE and BIAS FX PRO. I also have most of the other major Amp Modeler SW - Amplitube, Guitar Rig, THU, S-gear and others. BIAS AMP PRO has MIDI connections in SETTINGS>AUDIO, but no apparent way to use MIDI. The manual doesn't mention it either. BIAS AMP 2 LE doesn't have MIDI. You have to upgrade to PRO, and I'll be damned if I ever give them another penny! BIAS FX, has MIDI, but an absolutely AWFUL implementation, and you can't (AFAIK) use any version of BIAS FX with BIAS HEAD. IF you could use BIAS FX with BIAS HEAD, you wouldn't (necessarily) NEED an HXFX! Sorry, I know that doesn't help you. Rant over.
xixp111
I appreciate your response , I guess the hx is just more of a pedal than I need and it’s frustrating lollipop out of me because I just can’t wrap my head around how it’s meant to be setup you’re right my verbage was incorrect. What I’d like to be able to do is switch between two presets on my bias head. PC 20 and pc 0. My clean and dirty tone , while having effects automatically come up with each tone dor instance I’d like to hit a foot switch and have it switch to pc 20 , and on delay , reverb maybe a tiny bit of flange , then able to hit another switch and have it switch to pc 0 with another set of effect ideally I want to be able to do this from one menu , not having to back out of stomp mode to the bank mode to hit a switch then two more switches , like how has time for that when they are playing honestly I just beyond frustrated I feel like line 6 doesn’t really explain lollipop in thier manual , that one I’m a moron .. but I’m usually pretty good with tech
rd2rk
Think of it like this. Your FX section is the HXFX. each of it's 8 Snapshots PER PRESET can select a different Preset on the BIAS HEAD, and have a different configuration of the HXFX parameters for that HXFX Preset. Each Stomp FS can call a SINGLE Preset on the BIAS HEAD. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to decide how YOU want to use all of this power. Do you want to have your HXFX in Stomp Mode or Snapshot Mode? If Stomp Mode, you'll need to use two Footswitches to toggle presets on the BIAS HEAD, and there you are, TWO possibilities vs EIGHT in Snapshot Mode. What CAN'T you do in Snapshot Mode that requires that you be in Stomp Mode instead? When you need to change HXFX Presets, you need to go to Preset Mode UNLESS you know that you'll ALWAYS be going to this preset from that, and you're willing to give up ANOTHER FS in Stomp Mode, or a Snapshot in Snapshot Mode, to do it. OR you could use an additional external MIDI controller to emulate whatever mode you don't want to have to be in on the HXFX. This is POWERFUL STUFF. VERY customizable to most anybody's preferences. No matter how good their tech writers, there's NO WAY that everything that's possible could be covered in the manual. That's one of the reasons for this forum. But YOU are the only one who can determine your needs, we can only help you get there. You WILL need to read, and maybe re-read, the section of the manual pertaining to Snapshots. I STRONGLY believe that using Snapshots is the BEST way to accomplish your goals with the BIAS HEAD.
