djvalentine
Hello. Excited new owner of a Variax bass. Found for a reasonable price and did a 6 hour round trip to get it, UK. Ever since I discovered it I have been a bit obsessed with finding one, I like to surprise people with what noises I can make with a bass. I already use a Line 6 Pod XT Live - the bass has come without the power box or cable. Is it worth me getting one of those VDI cables to run through the Pod? Will the pod pass power through to the bass? And is there any benefit to using it this way. I know it works well with the Variax guitars but not sure if there is any added bonus with the bass model, and I haven't read anything in the handbook about it. I did manage, after a lot of trying, to find a Gearbox download - so I am able to use the Pod via my Windows 10 to craft patches (albeit sometimes glitching out). I am determined to find a way with the FX pack to make the synth sounds on the bass usable... But I can do this via the normal connections. Basically: is there any point getting a VDI cable just to plug this bass into my Pod XT Live? Is there any benefit (sounds, software updates, power through)? And finally, any other tips and tricks? Suddenly a sea of options lay before me. Excited to mess around.
Sandra51
Did you ever get a cable to try it with the XT live ?
djvalentine
Hi, I did in the end. So the Live XT doesn't have any integration with the Variax Bass, however it does save on battery - a good option for playing live, for example. I can't say I've found a way to make the variax synth sounds any more usable with the xt live but to be honest I haven't tried all that much. Still think it's possible.
