st158791
I just bought a Helix HX effects and I'm using a Synergy Head with 2 modules for a four channel setup. I know I can have the Helix control the amp channels through midi on say channel 1. If in the future I want to use a bigger midi floor controller to control the Helix do need to change this set up. So if the Helix HX is on midi channel 2, can I have the future midi floor controller change a preset/snapshot on the Helix and will this automatically have the HX effects tell the amp to change the channel through midi. Or do I have to reset up my midi channels and have the future midi floor controller send out commands to both the Helix and the Synergy amp. I hope this wasn't to confusing. st158791
So If I program everything in the helix including midi amp channel changing, then added like a Morningstar MC8 for expanded use, I should be ok with not having to reset where my midi messages are coming from. The Morning star (or other device) just sends a command to change the channel on the Helix, Helix then sends the midi command to change the channel on the amp if needed if it's programmed in that preset. At worst I'm just have to reprogram some midi PC/CC commands from the Morningstar instead of the Helix. Just trying to methodically plan out my presets/snapshots for midi now. Just played through a 4 cable method preset and it sounds awesome. Thanks rd2rk
rd2rk
There's lots of ways to go about this sort of thing, depending on your specific needs, but you shouldn't have any problem greater than the planning itself. 1
