HX Stomp Buffer

Hello guys, first-time newbie poster here.  Quick question that I hope someone can help me out with.  I've been using the HX Stomp for awhile now and love it.  Best multi-effects processor I've owned.  I'm assuming the Stomp has some kind of buffer in it because every time I turn it on in my effects chain I lose several dB of volume as soon as the unit boots up.  So my question is how does a person turn off the internal buffer in the HX Stomp?  I'm guessing it can be done and shouldn't be that difficult but I can't seem to find it in any of the menus so it might be a feature that is a bit buried.  Any instruction would be greatly appreciated.

If you have the input and output set to instrument level and the volume knob all the way up, you’ll have unity gain through the unit, and there shouldn’t be any difference in level with it off compared to when it’s on.

Many thanks Phil.  I think you may have correctly diagnosed the problem.  I went into the Global Settings and did a Factory Reset of those settings which by default set everything at Instrument Level and it now sounds like I have the unity gain I was after.  I have a feeling that when I first got the unit I got a bit too pushy with the buttons and knobs and in the process accidentally changed some ins/outs settings.
