Pod XT (bean) soft buttons fix?

Hello Pod xt users:  two of my four soft buttons (the ones below the screen) have ceased to function; i am wondering if anyone has any experience in fixing them? If so, i would love to know how to repair them. I bought it used and it arrived in its current state; was going to return it but it is loaded with four of the model packs, and everything else on it functions fine...so i decided to keep it. I have been editing it via an X-session midi controller but, for long term use, would prefer to find a fix if there is any.

Do they work sometimes or not at all? You could try spraying some contact cleaner on them.

 

You can try this, but I doubt it will help. 

 

Try the Edit Buffer Initialization with the following steps:

1. Turn off the POD
2. Turn on the POD while holding down the Save and Edit buttons simultaneously
3. The POD's LCD screen should display Init Edit Buffer
4. Push the Output mode button
5. Turn the Select / Select Page knob one click to the right
6. Turn the Effect Tweak / Change Value knob to the left or right adjusting the contrast.

 

If that does not help, please try re-installing the flash memory on the PODxt device using the instructions in the following link:

As an alternative, you can edit and organize the sounds easily using Gearbox or Line 6 Edit which you can download from the Line6 site.

Thanks for the fast response! the soft buttons dont work at all; i did try deoxit on the button contacts, but that didnt fix it.

will the edit buffer initialization procedure erase the model packs?
