Hotone Soul Press II

I just got a Hotone Soul Press II.  Volume and WAH are amazing.  I want to run it as WAH in ON position and Expression in off position.  It seems to only work as an expression pedal if I am on a preset  that utilizes an expression pedal AND i unplug it and re-plug it into EXP 1/2.  Works great then, until I switch presets.  Then I have to unplug and re-plug again.  Any suggestions?

Quick addendum:  I started out using a TS cable and the EXP Sweep was  0 - 100 - 0, with 100 at about the half depressed point.  I switched to a TRS and the sweep is now 0 - 100, as expected, with 100 in full depressed state.  The Pedal is more consistently recognized with the TS cable than with the TRS cable.  I will keep playing with it until I figure it out.

Yes, it works as WAH when "ON" and Expression when "OFF". As you may know, there are two WAH settings - classic and warm - both of which can be adjusted via the sweep knob.  I have mine set on classic and I think it sounds pretty good.  I am comparing it to a Dunlop CryBaby Mini.

Hi, how did you solve the sweep 0 - 100 - 0 issue? Trying to use it as Wah and Expression using split Y - TRS to TS. What is your global settings for this? TIA.

I had the same issue. I sorted it using a simple TRS cable connected to the Hotone in the EXP Out and connected to my HX Stomp in the EXP 1/2 input. I don't think the Hotone Soul Press II works with a Y cable... But please correct me if I'm wrong!

Hi, I just thought I would share my experience. It seems that the TRS cable cable method work with a HX Stomp, but it wont work with a Helix (I guess the exp pedal jacks work differently). I have a Helix Rack and a Hotone II Press. No matter what type of cable I use, I have the 100 - 0 - 100 problem. This is due to how the Exp jack of the Helix work, and how the Hotone II Press works.

I tested the resistance tip - sleeve and ring - sleeve on the Hotone using a TRS cable. When fully down, tip - sleeve is 0 but ring - sleeve in 10k Ohm, and on the contrary, when fully up, tip - sleeve is 10k Ohm and ring - sleeve is 0.

Then I found a post explaining how the Exp jacks in the Helix are wired, and this wiring makes that they "kind of" sum the resistance of tip-sleeve and ring-sleeve (Ohm laws, so not quite a sum when in parallel and blah blah blah).

Long story short, the Hotone II Press will never work correctly, not with a TS cable, nor with a (fully wired) TRS cable. The trick is: use TRS jacks, but make a cable that only wires tip to tip and sleeve to sleeve, and leave the rings unwired. This way, the Helix only sees the tip - sleeve resistor that goes from 0 to 10k Ohm.

I've done it, and it works flawlessly.
