Chan. Vol. knob controls wah and other effects and not volume

Hey guys, as the title states, I'm having issues with my MKII Spider Valve's channel volume knob and other knobs not functioning properly. Every time I try to adjust the channel volume, the screen shows that I am shifting between the wah, red comp, and others effects but it does not adjust the volume. If I try to adjust the gain, the knob will work for a split second before immediately switching over to "AUTO" and staying there. I recently picked up a shortboard mkii in hopes of "fixing" the issue by updating the firmware since I hadn't done so since purchasing it new back in 2013. The firmware update did not help, I'm still unable to use the channel volume knob to adjust the volume and instead it keeps switching effects.

Any insight, past experiences or articles pointing me to the right direction towards figuring out what is happening will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

hi there MRguitarist21, im afraid i cant offer a resolution but i have a very similar issue.

I have a Spider Valve MK2 2x12 Bognor

The preset/push in button that controls the parameters and different delays/reverbs etc has been damaged by my son (grrr) and the pot has become loose from the PCB.

I also have the same issue as you when dialing the reverb control up, this activates the delay/tremlo other modulation dials also and the screen flickers so quickly between lots of different presets.

Its unusable in the state that its in.

I would also love to hear peoples thoughts on this.

Many thanks

J

J,

Bummer, sorry to hear that. I was able to find a shortboard mkii recently and that's been my workaround for the time being. Luckily the last update for the mkii edit works fine on windows10 and I've been able to adjust the volume via the pedal. I'd still like to find a solution for it though. I'll update if I end up finding a something.

Either a short on the control board or a problem with the cable between the control board and main processor board,

old tubes pulling down power and throwing it off a bit.Being a 14+ year old product, maybe even a glitch on the processor

board itself, or a combination of those.

It will need to be looked at by a Line 6 authorized service center in your area.
