jova
Hi , I’m having a bit of a nightmare with the Helix LT when going to the studio to rehearse with the band. I’m playing through a Marshall all valve amp with the treble, bass and mids every thing at twelve when I’m dialling in sounds at my house ( fairly big sound proof garage actually) and I can get tones I’m fairly happy with, then when I plug it into a transistor amp at the studio it sounds absolutely terrible! Even with the studio amp with the bass, treble, mids at twelve the bass is to rather boomy or in some tones the treble is awful, the volume can be different also and the tone is just not there,, any ideas if there is something I can do rather than have book myself into the studio and sit and dial new presets for studio use. cheers john
theElevators
Amps always color your sound... if you have an effects loop, and can connect the Helix to the "return", it will color your sound less. As mentioned in several posts, just get yourself a cheap power amp - Baby Bomb. It works great, it's compact, and all you need is ANY 12" speaker. If you try to connect the Helix to whatever amp you have in the studio, then be prepared for unpredictable/crappy results. That's why I got the tiny little power amp and swear by it. I toured in Europe and just returned from Canada. Connect Helix 1/4" -> Mooer Baby Bomb -> 12" speaker of a Fender Deluxe. Connect XLR L/R to FOH. I would never have thought that would need to be explained. Sorry if that sounds a bit snarky but I can't imagine why you would have thought it would sound the same using two very different amplifiers. I think your solution is to create a separate setlist for the solid state amp. Copy the presets you want to use into the new setlist and tweak them for the solid state amp. Rename your setlists with names something like "Marshall" & "Solid State" or something along those lines so you're never in confusion as to which setlist is for which amp. I have done exactly this in the past and while it took some time to set up and adjust the end result was worth the effort. No problem mate I’ll not take that personally lol, yeah I expected a different sound but not that bad as I tried it on a small practice solid state amp and it sounded ok but it was a bit of a shock just how awful it sounded , I tried to change the cab on a few of the presets but I was getting deeper in lollipop lol. I’m going to have to rethink things through, cheers
