HX Stomp - activate tuner with one press (rather than press and hold)

Press and holding the TAP footswitch for about second activates the tuner.

 

Is it possible to set it (or an external footswitch, for that matter) such that the tuner is activated with a simple push of the footswitch?

I tried but couldn't get this to work. I have a Midi cable connected IN > OUT on my Stomp XL.

 

I have Midi Thru turned off in Globals.

 

When I press my footswitch the tuner screen turns on below the stomp squares. See attached.

I don't have an XL, but it works fine on both my Helix Floor and HXS. Is the switch you're using assigned to do anything other than send the MIDI CC?

Nope. It’s just a blank, fresh preset. 
 

All my software updates are current.

Which FS are you using?

There's a couple of problems I can see.

First, when I posted the MIDI messages, I assumed that you'd use an external MIDI controller.

Using the loop-back method, the preset needs to be SAVED with the Tuner FS OFF because when you load the preset, the SAVED state is what will load. Also, it may just be that the display method used by the XL for STOMP mode, unlike the HXS/Floor, isn't compatible with the loop-back method. If you have an external MIDI controller to try, that could be the only way to tell if there's a bug with displaying the Tuner using MIDI.

Did you ever get this to work? Getting the same problem on my XL. Other loopback commands (like All Bypass) work fine.
