jcooklsu
Currently I use guitar->the combined channel input of my pre-amp and use each channel's loop sends to go into each power amp channel and then the corresponding cab. I'd like to be able to swap between my current pre-amp and the POD without having to unhook a bunch of wires if possible.

Basically you need to use the 4 cable method, usually explained for combo amps (i.e. with preamp and poweramp combined in the same unit) equipped with FX LOOP like in the above picture. The only difference following the 4CM scheme in your case is that your preamp and poweramp are separate devices, and therefore you have to use the output of your preamp and the input of your poweramp in place of the amp send and amp return respectively in the above scheme. Here is an article about the 4CM already written on my site dedicated to POD: 4 Cable Method _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
