Helix to Fryette - All distortions/ODs sound square wave*

Hey y’all, been a helix user for about a year and some change now. I’ve only ever used it in 4CM method with an amp. I’ve just upgraded our live rig to a Fryette LXII 50x50 power amp for guitars.

I’ve pretty much kept the way I setup the patch the same as I did in 4CM with some minor tweaks but I no matter the OD + Amp combination I try. They all have this similar square wave fuzz overtones to them that make it so that there’s no real difference between anything. So it’s making it a bit hard to really dial things in in comparison to 4CM

I grabbed a quick photo of my helix chain before leaving to work today but can get more details on what I did in each block once home.

The additional IR block is moot here - was experimenting for sending a source to FOH for when I can dial in the helix better lol

Thank you in advance!

Unless there's something else happening in your system - defective Helix, something pre or post - what you're hearing is the sound of the Solo Lead OD amp.

Attached is a modded version of your preset. I added the Solo Lead Clean amp and a modded version of your main EQ block.

ROUTE TO (FS11) toggles the amps, SWAP EQ toggles the EQ blocks. PILLARS bypasses the OD.

If you bypass the OD, toggling the amps with ROUTE TO gives distinct CLEAN and LEAD tones.

With either amp selected, toggling the EQ blocks significantly changes the sound.

Likewise, if you swap out the SOLO LEAD OD amp for any other high-gain amp, they sound different.

If you're getting different results with my example preset, the problem is one of the conditions I mentioned in the first sentence of this post.

Let me know.
