OSX, Helix as Input, MOTU M2 as output

Recommended Posts

Mac OS Ventura

When I had Tannoy Reveal monitors, I could use use both XLR and 1/4” monitor inputs simultaneously with no adverse effects. I’ve upgraded to some HS8s, and while it also has dual inputs, it won’t do them simultaneously.

I set Helix as my computer input and M2 as output, but no sound (tho the native meter in audio settings reads the signal from the Helix).  I tried setting up an aggregate device in MIDI settings but couldn’t get it to work.

I did run the XLR outs from the Helix into the M2, but it unfortunately doesn’t sound nearly as good as directly out from the Helix to the monitors.  Not as clear…missing some sparkle.

Basically I want to use the M2 as my system sound card (all system audio, plug-ins like Analog Lab V), but be able to play through the Helix out to the monitors any time (unless I choose the M2 as input because I’m running a mic into the front of it, etc).

Hope this makes sense. Thanks!!
