TPCaton
Hello all! Just bought the Redwirez bass IR pack and while importing them found theres so many different variations of each, with so many different microphones. Does anyone know the best way of organising these? Is it to find the ones you like and import just those? Or is there a way to get them all uploaded so you can switch between microphones? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks
silverhead
IRs are unwieldy. The only way to audition (hear) and compare them is to load them into the IR slots in the Helix device. Once loaded you can compare them by switching the assignment of the IR block in a preset to a different IR slot. You can load multiple IRs at the same time into the Helix IR slots by drag/dropping the IR files from your computer folder. However, you are limited to 128 different IRs at any time. As you point out, an IR library like Redwirez typically contains many more than 128. There’s no ‘best’ way to organize and audition them; whatever works best for you is right for you. Just so you know, the relatively new cab engine in Helix is actually millions of individual IRs. Each time you change a mic/cab parameter Helix is actually unloading one IR file and loading another in the background. If you haven’t yet spent time exploring the new engine give it a try. I no longer use external IRs; I find the quality and variety available in the new cab engine to be quite sufficient.
