Beatlefreek
On the AMP MODELS chart in the Owner's manual (on the left-hand side of the POD diagram), I can see how the first few amp models listed relate to the AMP MODELS dial on the POD itself. Starting in the lower left bottom of the dial with LINE 6 CLEAN, then moving up clockwise to the top of the dial with MODERN CLASS A, and then down clockwise to FUZZ BOX and finally TUBE PREAMP. All that makes sense according the AMP MODELS chart. But on that same chart, there's a subsequent, secondary list of amp models. Starting with (LIne 6 Clean) Line 6 Twang. The Small Tweed identified as 1952 Tweed Deluxe before, is now identified as Small Tweed #2 in this secondary list as a '60 Tweed Champ. The Black Panel in the first list is a Blackface Deluxe. In this second list, the Black Panel is now a '65 Blackface Twin. So, my question is: how do you access these secondary amps? Thanks. Amp Models – You have a selection of 32 Amp Models from this knob. To access models 17-32, hold down the TAP button and turn the Amp Models knob. When you choose an Amp Model, a Cabinet Model is also loaded automatically. You can choose a different cabinet via the Effects (CAB Select) knob. Beatlefreek
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I've read that ... several times, actually. But I'm still confused. If, for example, I hold the TAP button and turn the AMP MODELS dial to Black Panel (just as per your description in your post taken from the manual itself), as I'm understanding it according to the AMP MODELS chart, I should be accessing a 1964 Blackface Fender Deluxe. However, there is second Black Panel amp — in fact it's listed as Black Panel #2 — associated with that Black Panel setting and that amp is listed as a '65 Blackface Fender Twin. See attached. So, am I misreading or misunderstanding how this AMP MODELS chart works? How do I know if I've accessed the Deluxe or the Twin? Or moreover, how do I go about accessing the Deluxe as opposed to the Twin? Thanks so much for your patience.
Beatlefreek
Another way of addressing this is to look at what's written in the manual rather than what's on the chart. In the first attached example regarding the Tap(HOLD) Functions, it says "lets you access a second layer". On the AMP MODELS dial there are 16 amps listed around the dial, from Line 6 Clean all the way around clockwise to Tube Preamp. It says at the top of the dial (Amp Models 17-32). If the 16 amps listed around the dial are the first layer accessed by holding the TAP button while turning the AMP MODELS dial to the amp you want, how do you access those additional 16 amps on the second layer? You'll have already held the TAP button down and turned the dial to the amp you want on what is presumably the first layer. Now what ... to get to the second layer? In the other two attached, where it's describing the two different Black Panel amps — the '64 Deluxe and the '65 Twin — there's a curious note in the description of Black Panel #2 (the '65 Twin). It reads "Black Panel #2 (Hold Tap + Black Panel). Presumably that's a direction on how to get to the '65 Twin. But, haven't you already held the TAP button and turned the dial to Black Panel to get the Deluxe? There's no indication on the display screen which layer you're in. How do you know? Beatlefreek
Ohhh, hold the phone. I think I may have figured this thing out. If you're, say, in one of the 1 to 9 Banks A to D, and you want to switch to one of the additional 1 - 32 amps, just by turning the AMP MODELS dial, automatically engages the first layer of amps. That is, amps 1 through 16. Correct so far? If you THEN hold down the TAP button and THEN turn the AMP MODELS dial, you'll be engaging the second layer of amps, 17-32. Yes? liet_
@Beatlefreek They are not "additional amps". There are 36 banks: 1A,1B,1C,1D,2A,2B...9C,9D. Banks hold presets. Any bank can have a preset, which selects one of the amps. When you choose a bank and an amp gets selected, you can now turn the "amp models" knob to select a different amp. When you turn the "amp models" knob without pressing "tap" at the same time, you select one of the 1-16 amps with the name written around the knob, such as #1 "Line 6 Clean", #2 "Line 6 Cruch", ..., #15 "Fuzz Box" or #16 "Tube Preamp". Now, if you press and hold the "tap" button and select #1 "Line 6 Clean", you're really selecting #17 "Line 6 Twang". In fact, the chart above for amps 17-32 reads as #17 "(Line 6 Clean) Line 6 Twang" and #32 "(Tube Preamp) Jazz Clean". This means that if you want to select #17 "Line 6 Twang", you press and hold the "tap" button and select "Line 6 Clean" on the "amp models" knob. For #32 "Jazz Clean" you press and hold the "tap" button and select "Tube Preamp"
