DulcimerBoy05
When it comes to sound equipment, I'm not very tech savvy. Hopefully ,someone here can help me probably troubleshoot my issue. I currently have a BOSS Katana MKII 100 watt amp. I have been connecting my Helix LT to the amp using the Power Amp In input in the back of the Katana, while plugging into the Left/Mono 1/4" output on the Helix. When playing I've always had a buzzing sound in the background. Today I tried to troubleshoot it, and I discovered a few things. 1) The buzzing starts immediately when I plug the amp into the Helix, even if the Helix is off. As soon as I unplug from the Helix, the buzzing in my amp goes away. 2) If I plug into the Right 1/4" output on the Helix, I get no buzz. Even after I turn the Helix on. I also tried plugging into the top input of the amp and it had no effect on the buzzing. It seems to me there is some issue with the left output on the Helix. While I could just use the right output going forward. I would still like to know what is causing the buzzing in the left output. I'm not sure if it's an issue with my amp or Helix. Any thoughts on how to further troubleshoot the issue? it might be as simple as I have a bad left output and need to submit a warranty claim. Also, how much in quality of tone am I sacrificing if I just use the right output going forward? Everything I read online says when plugging into an amp you need to use the mono signal. Schmalle
The Out L likely has a loose ground connection and it needs some soldering. When you have Helix plugged in (L Out -> Katana Power Amp In) you can get rid of the buzz by also connecing R Out (or any other In/Out) -> Katana FX Loop Return. This provides the missig ground connection.
