Unlikely transfer from POD XT Live to Helix HX Stomp

I'm pretty sure that I'm not going to be able to do this but way-back-when (around 2005/6) I owned a POD XT Live which I used in my covers band (long since disbanded).  I uploaded 5 or 6 tones to the Line6 site and, amazingly, they're still available!!

So... is there any way I can upload those tones to my HX Stomp, or would I have to attempt to recreate them from scratch.  I anticipate the latter, but it would be interesting to know before I try!!  A few of the old tones actually sounded pretty decent... well, as far as my memory of 20 years ago goes!!

Hi,

Short answer - No!

The Helix family of products are based on a completely different modelling engine and are not even remotely compatible.

Over the past 10 years of Helix, many folks have tried, and failed, to recreate patches from earlier Line 6 modellers.

Even if you think that loading an older preset into Line 6 Edit, and making a note of every detail of the settings of every component of the patch, and then using those details to rebuild a preset in HX Edit for your unit - it will not work!

Don’t waste your life - learn how to build presets using the newer models. You will be far happier, far sooner!

Oh, yeah, I started out with the old Red Kidney Bean POD, and I still have a POD XT Live and a POD HD500 gathering dust in the corner of my studio, but bought my Helix Floor back in 2015 and use it almost daily. It’s a world of difference.

Tools for the job.

Hope this helps/makes sense

Well, I kind of expected that answer.  It would have been interesting had the answer been "yes", but c'est la vie!

My skills at creating presets are pretty good; well, good enough that I'm happy with the results so far.

I will have a go at recreating a couple of the sounds - In particular, I made a U2/Edge like tone that I used on a couple of songs, plus a very decent (to my ears) Floyd - comfortably numb tone.  I can hear the sounds I like in my head, the only struggle I may have will be to find the right amp (out of the hundreds available!)

A challenge, for sure

:)

Hi,

I generally wouldn't recommend this, but in your case it may be a good place to start.

Click on CUSTOMTONE in the menu above, then scroll down and click on the HX Stomp icon. Next type "NUMB" into the search option and see what pops up. Select a few of the 5 Star rated files to download. Repeat the search function by typing in "U2". Check out the presets, which will have you laughing with joy, or crying in despair. At least you will have an idea how some other users have tried to reach the "sound in their heads". It should give you a place to start to modify things to suit the sound in your head.

Have fun!

Hope this helps/makes sense.
