Stadium Setup behind a Firewall

This probably won't affect a lot of people but if you happen to be someone that restricts outgoing traffic on your network be sure to have the following open for the Stadium during the initial setup of the device

  • TCP 443
  • ICMP (ping) to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8. (Google DNS)
  • TCP/UDP 53 (DNS)
  • UDP 123 (NTP) - this is may be optional.

The first three are required (I'm not sure if NTP is, but it does make an NTP query) otherwise the helix will not allow you to log in nor will it generate a QR Code.  I'm not sure why it tries to ping the DNS server instead of just trying to do a DNS lookup, but if it can't ping it you can't login.
