siderealx
So, I've raised an issue before where I was having tempo sync problems and there were all sorts of factors to eliminate (including a MIDI thru feedback loop). But I'm left with one final issue which I think is solvable if anyone can advise... I'm running the HX Stomp alongside Logic where I have tempo synced effects. The most notable example is having an LFO based effect (tremolo synced to Logic), whereby the downbeat also needs defining via the tap switch (as detailed on page 66 of the manual). I can programme the tap in Logic via CC#64 and it works. But occasionally when stopping or loading a song, the HX seems to recieve a random tempo command from somewhere and the preset tempo is lost. Thankfully it will still sync back up when pressing play because it's set to external sync, but the behavious isn't normal and I will be doing this on stage. Anyway, I found something in the manual which I'd not seen before and it got me thinking, so I should clarify how I have this physically set up: I don't have an FS4/5 pedal atttached, but I do have one expression pedal (Boss EV30) attached on Expression 1 via TRS. But because I need tap tempo assigning and don't have a physical switch I set it up virtually in Global>Footswitches>FS5 Function>Tap/Tuner and send CC#64 from Logic to command the tap (page 66). Interestingly the manual states on page 58: FS5 Function: Sets the function of Footswitch 5, but only when Global Settings > Preferences > EXP/FS Ring is set to “FS5.” Choose from TAP/Tuner, Stomp 5, Bank Up, Bank Down, Preset Up, Preset Down, Snapshot Up, Snapshot Down, Next Footswitch Mode (same as pressing PAGE from Play view), Previous Footswitch Mode (same as pressing from Play view), All Bypass, or Toggle EXP 1/2.* The default is “ToglEXP[1/2].” It also states on page 59, which may be relevant: One Expression Pedal: When connecting one traditional expression pedal, there are a few things to be aware of: 1/ From the “Controller Assign” menu, assign the Position parameter of Volume Pedal and Pan blocks to “EXP 1” 2/ From the “Bypass Assign” menu, assign the Switch parameter of Volume Pedal and Pan blocks to “None” 3/ From the “Bypass Assign” menu, assign the Switch parameter of Wah and Pitch or Poly Wham blocks to either “EXP 1” (where HX Stomp engages the block when moving EXP 1 away from its heel down position) or a stomp footswitch. So I wonder if I have this set up correctly and if there's a conflict here from the settings or even movement from the expression pedal via the TRS ring (?). I have it set as: Global>Footswitches>FS3 Function>Stomp3 Global>Footswitches>FS4 Function>Stomp4 Global>Footswitches>FS5 Function>Tap/Tunr Global>Preferences>EXP/FS Tip>Exp 1 Global>Preferences>EXP/FS Ring>FS5 Do I have this set correctly, or am I missing something? Is it wired up correctly and could the idle TRS ring in the expression pedal be sending to the tap tempo? Any other thoughts I may be missing? Thanks for any advice! enjalt
Hi. Did you think to check the default tempo value in your preset (when not synced to logic)? It may be too simple but can it be that you saved your preset with a random tempo so when you're not synced with logic, the tempo switch to the default value (global or per preset or snapshot)? Regards Thanks, no I can literally watch/hear it glitch. But actually I've just figured it out... I found that Logic MIDI 'chase' CC#64 will send messages that confuse the Helix tempo. Disabling it solves the problem! This is quite a breakthrough and I can't see any discussion about it. Perhaps rarely used. I still don't understand why: Global>Footswitches>FS4 Function is assigned to Stomp 4, when the expression pedal is effectively taking that slot. Is this correct anyone?
