ZenBalancer
Hi! From the following very old thread (2015) (Helix as USB<>VDI Interface for JTV Variax Workbench HD Editor? I understand that the Workbench HD wasn't able to connect to the supported Variax guitars over VDI (so without battery and direct USB interface) over USB connection of the (OG) Helix Floor at launch day. And I understand from the following not too old thread (2024) One Variax works with Helix, the other does not that the Workbench HD connecting to the JTV eventually worked through the (OG) Helix Floor. I've two questions: 1. Does the (OG) Helix Floor indeed support Workbench HD connecting to supported Variax guitars over VDI (without battery and direct USB interface)? 2. After how many months or years after launch of the (OG) Helix Floor did that support was ready for the public users? My first question is because I don't want to assume I understand correctly without recent feedback. My second question is to have an idea if the feature for Helix Stadium might be supported as well and how long it might take: Helix Stadium & Expand D10 & Workbench HD Thank you in advance for reading and for the answer(s). waymda
Q1 - Yes - just make sure midi over USB is turned on for the Helix. I turn it off as a matter of course and it catches me out everytime. Q2. Don't know, but its fallacious to think there will be a parallel. Different hardware, with different corporate owners, and likely different priorities. FWIW, whilst the D10 is said to support Variaxs I won't be holding my breath of the depth of that support, or for how long given since Yamaha took over Line 6 they've killed the Variax product. Says a lot to me about where the dev team will be able to expend effort. Unfortunately, as someone who uses variaxes with within song guitar and tuning changes via snapshots on the OG.
