HX stomp - swapping exp pedal from MIDI to exp input without resetting presets?

HI all - 

 

I have a big board and a small board.  

The big board uses an Morningstar MC3 and I hook the expression pedal up through that, so I can send expression params to any pedal via MIDI, including the HX stomp.  The wah block on the stomp is mapped to MIDI cc#4, which is the lowest allowable cc mapping for midi expression control of the wah effect. 

For the small board I just want to plug the exp pedal into the exp jack on the HX stomp.  

Apparent problem:  the wah block needs to be set to either take the expression input OR a midi cc#.   I'm trying to figure out if this means I need to change this for every preset that uses an expression input every time I swap the HX stomp between boards, or if there's a way for me to just swap the expression pedal and not need to do this. 

(I could dupe presets and have one for the small board, one for the big board, but that's seems like good way to chew up all my available presets, plus a drag to maintain dupes).
