Why can't you link a user preset to a song?

I have owned the Stadium for about a month now. Made some nice backing tracks for a new band I'm putting together. I want scrolling lyrics - so I'm using stage tracks 4 for that, with a iPad. I want the snap shot changes, the light show and vocal effects to be run by the Stadium . But the problem I have discovered is that - I can change user presets with no problems. I can trigger a start of song with no problems. But no matter what I have tried, I can't get the song to change in showcase remotely with a midi command. I read something today about " showcase is a separate system within the Stadium " . I tried running a regular midi cable to mutable midi devices, and when ever I change a song - no midi signal at all is coming from the Helix Stadium. And yes, I have tried all kinds of setting in global midi - with nothing working. What am I doing wrong, or is the Stadium not capable of changing a user preset & a song at the same time? That was kind of the point of buying this thing, and I'm surprised that this is an issue . Thanks for your help - Ron

I run the Stadium with Stage Traxx 3 for lyrics only, like it seems you are with ST4.
I use a WIDI dongle plugged in to the Stadium to send and receive BT from the iPad running ST3.

I have the Stadium and iPad/ST3 set up so if I change a song on the iPad (bearing in mind I only use the iPad for lyrics, which are programmed with highlights) it selects the correct Song in Showcase (running the full backing track / click track etc) on the Stadium OR if I change the Song on the Stadium, it selects the correct Song in ST3.

Works very well, and I have used this live.

FYI, the Midi commands in ST3 look something like this:

The ST3 Songs contain the following MIDI commands at the beginning;

[midi: PC1.5@1, CC63.1@1, CC10.2@1]

[midi@play: CC51.1@1]
[midi@stop: CC51.1@1]

Where:
[midi: PC
1.5@1 =PRESET setlist(LSB CC32=5) and preset (=1) select command @ Channel 1, and CC63.1@1 = SONG Setlist, CC10.2@1 = SONGPreset within that Setlist]

[midi@play: CC51.1@1 =play song command in Helix Stadium]
[midi@play: CC51.1@1
= also play STOP command in Helix Stadium] This means I can use the Start / Stop button in ST3 and this will Start / Stop the Song in Showcase, avoiding the problem of stopping ST3 and the Song in Showcase carrying on playing.

NB: There seems to be a glitch where the MIDI message to select the correct Stadium Playlist, and then Song within the Playlist doesn't work, so it selects the Song for whatever Playlist you're already in. To avoid issues with this, I gave up using Playlists for Songs in the Stadium, and just use the master setlist, which works well

Hope that helps
