lipsucnt Posted August 29, 2014 Share Posted August 29, 2014 Can some one tell me what would be the best way to connect my amp a solid state 50w Marshall to my 500x and which output settings I need ,currently I am set to amp combo power amp output setting,output from left un balanced mono going into the effects return in the back to avoid the tone and channel controls. Also when its run in this way do I need to have the line level switch set for amp or line as I have tried both and amp is quieter than line but by using the line setting will I do my amp any damage.or would be better off going in the front. this may seem like a dumb thing to ask but I have asked it anyway. Brazzy Posted August 29, 2014 Share Posted August 29, 2014 Whichever way sounds best to you is the way you would hook it up. I used the Combo Front and Sudio Direct with the 1/4" output switch at AMP and the Guitar in switch set to PAD with good results going from my HD500 to a Spider Jam which is a 75w SS amp. There really isn't any set way, you just need to try them all and see where you settle in at. I also use the XLR out to the Spider Jam's Mic in with studio direct.
