357mag
I read in that HD Guide that you can use a Q Filter before the distortion pedal to act as a boost. So I tried it and it does indeed seem to give my guitar a more punchy tone. Kinda like boosting the distortion pedal to send a hotter signal to the amp. I'm currently using it with a Brit J-45 and I'm getting a pretty good Malmsteen type tone. I tried the Q Filter with the Plexi and the results weren't so good. The thing about the Q Filter is it can sound like a nasally wah pedal. Are there any other ways to boost the Plexi and push it into more overdrive so I can get a punchy more aggressive tone? bjnette
From my experience the EQs are subtle and take some frequency gain increases to make a difference,. You might just be over doing it. Try a narrow band in the frequency you like to cut thru and lowerering the high shelf to accentuate the desired frequency.
