  1. Hello, I have also thouhgt buying some "true stereo" rig for the Helix. Is Firehawk like a "own product" or could it be used well with the Helix unit?!? I have researched also DT25 (pair) or just the DT50 2x12" but I guess it is off market now? At the moment I have a pair of normal amps, the other is true valve amp (H&K Statesman Quad 40w and the other is just basic solid state Peavey Studio pro 1x12" Transtube) and a solid state and I think the sound is quite good for stereo or "doubled mono". So my question here is : * what could be the suitable amp for Helix thinking of the stereo usage? (beside the Firehawk) * would the use of Firehawk or similar be the same when using 2 separate basic amps? (thinking of the final signal or the sound qualities etc 1 vs. 2) * is the signal from Helix´s both 1/4 outputs to 2 mono amps same than Firehawk alone or some other stereo capable amp? To my mind 2 separate basic amps with good speakers could be enough because you still can control both of them and maybe add something you would like to the final output sound and on stage you could benefit little more when placing each amp as you like in the area where you play. Or is Firehawk´s other separate cabinet sizes etc suitable enough just for this approach... Interesting product and the price is very reasonable for all that amp could be good for (acoustic, keyboard etc). What happened to the DT-series? The DT50 is not for sale anymore?!? It was "the best" with POD HD (500) and now there is only head and combo 25 W?!? Please tell how the Firehawk works with the Helix and if you have other else suggestions for amps to choose let me know, thanks!
  2. Hello! In my opinion and to my experience for only 2-3 days I can use the Helix best only to connect it with my amps by setting all the modeling to "preamp". I have tried all and even the 4CM but because I have 2 amps I would need quite a lot of cables... And then the Helix is pretty loud :o I have to tweak almost every patch so that I must roll down the treble a lot. Only amp that was quite nice and "dark sounding" for beginning was the "Brit J45 Nrm". Maybe it was too dark. But I have been little disappointed how much work you have to do to get the sound right?!? Could you give me any suggestions for the settings, maybe EQ or global settings?!? I have found these settings in Helix to work best with my gear (Don Grosh Electrajet Custom, H&K Statesman Quad EL84 and Peavey Studio Pro 1x12" Transtube) : * Guitar in pad OFF * Guitar in impedance 22k Ohm For EQ and especially for the global EQ settings I have no clue what so ever... Any good experiences for setting these?!? Also for some amps for the master volume level I have to set some to full 10 and others to 7-8 and with distortion I have to roll levels accordingly. With compressor I achieve quite easily some levels to equal, but suprisingly the differences can be quite big between patches (mostly because of the amp master voluming in the model software?!?)! Perfect sounds though to my taste and a good quality product!!! Have to examine more with the possibilities
  3. Hello, I am a total newbie here so please bear with me... But to this topic, I have just purchased the Helix unit and it looks and feels fantastic and it will be my main effects board for many years! For the record with the Helix I use mostly : - Don Grosh Electrajet custom guitar with Lindy Fralin Unbucker 9k and Texas specials pickups - with some presets I have to roll down guitar treble!?! - my main amp is Hughes and Kettner 1x12" Quad 40w with TAD EL84:s and TAD 12ax7 tubes - my second amp is solid state Peavey Studio Pro ("Transtube") 1x12" to high gain input I have tested all the normal ways to use it but the FRFR because I have not those amps (yet...?). To my mind this unit is as hard to get sound right as the POD HD 500 did. The only way I could use it was to use preamp models. The Helix seems to be like this also? When I use the normal amp + cab modeling, the sound gets too loud from the Helix itself and I have to roll down the tube amp and solid state amp volumes a lot. Also when I tried to use only amp modeling the sound was too trebly and loud. And when testing with 4CM I realised I would need so much more cables that the connecting and in live situations would be ridiculous. So I decided to stick with the same preamp perspective as with the POD HD 500 earlier. With that I can use the Helix main volume in work room playing in 11 o´clock and the master volumes in amps are quite decent. I have noticed that in Helix settings the best for me are : * Guitar in pad OFF * Guitar in impedance 22k Ohm * my tone settings for the output amps are mostly set to 12 o´clock, sometimes I have to roll treble quite down/back about 9-10 o´clock But in all I find the preamp best suitable for me at this starting point. I have used the Helix unit only for 2-3 days now. But the editing is fun and quite easy. I am still waiting for the librarian software.
